Cyberpunk 2077’s next free update, the Edgerunners 2 Update (version 2.5), arrives on October 22, 2026, CD PROJEKT RED announced on October 20 on the official Cyberpunk site and in a Steam post. The studio will preview it the day before in a REDstreams broadcast.

The Details
CD PROJEKT RED’s announcement is short, and it names three things:
- The update is free for everyone who owns Cyberpunk 2077, and it carries the 2.5 version number.
- Cyberware customization and “a new dual-wielding playstyle” are the two features the studio names, followed by “and more.”
- A REDstreams preview runs on Wednesday, October 21, at 5 PM CEST (11 AM ET, 8 AM PT) on Twitch, YouTube and Steam.
The name points at the anime. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is the anime sequel CD PROJEKT RED is making with Studio Trigger for Netflix, and the update even gets its own official illustration, with original art credited to Taisei Uchida. The update’s patch notes, published October 21, add content from the series too: a new side quest, Clampdown, set before the events of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, a 5-piece gear set based on the character King, and a new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, with tracks from the Edgerunners series.
What This Means for Players
This is the first numbered update for Cyberpunk 2077 on PC since Patch 2.31 in September 2025, judging by CD PROJEKT RED’s Steam news, so it is worth a fresh look if you finished the game and Phantom Liberty a while ago. A dual-wielding playstyle is new for V, and cyberware customization touches every build, so expect to rethink your loadout. We will know how deep both go after Wednesday’s stream.
