The best weapons in Delta Force right now, in our view, are the K437 and the new MDR assault rifles for Operations, the K437 and M82 for Warfare’s long sightlines, and the newly buffed Desert Eagle and .357 Revolver for cheap rounds in Detonation. Those picks are ours, built on Team Jade’s official balance notes for the Reorientation season, which started on September 8, 2026, and its mid-season changes on October 9 and October 15.
Delta Force has no single best gun because the same weapon is tuned differently in each mode. Below we cover what changed this season, our picks for Operations, Warfare and Detonation, the guns that got weaker, and how to read tier lists you find elsewhere.
What Changed This Season
Team Jade calls Reorientation, the game’s second anniversary season (Season 11 in its notes), a short season. These are the weapon changes that matter most, all from the developer’s own patch notes:
- Two new guns: the MDR Assault Rifle, which uses 7.62x51mm ammo, and the Thompson SMG, which uses .45 ammo.
- K437 buffs at launch: its Lancer Long Barrel Combo went from +30% to +50% range and muzzle velocity in Operations (with Armor Penetration Specialization up from 32 to 35), and from +15% to +25% in Warfare.
- K437 nerf at mid-season: on October 9, its limb damage multiplier in Operations dropped from 0.4x to 0.3x.
- New season ammo: 7.62x51mm LS ammo has Level 5 penetration, 40% more muzzle velocity and 8% more vertical recoil, and headshots cause Ear Ringing that cuts the target’s hearing range for 10 seconds.
- Sniper changes: in Operations, aiming down sights with a sniper rifle now has a movement accuracy penalty, so firing while stationary has no bloom but any movement causes “significant spread.” Bolt-action rifles recover faster after each shot.
- Handling buffs: the M14’s 30-round magazine and 50-round drum carry smaller handling penalties in Operations, and the M82’s Crocodile Barrel Combo and AMR-HT Hollow Stock got better handling in both modes.
Best Weapons for Operations
Operations is the extraction mode, where armor and penetration decide most fights and every gun you bring in can be lost.
K437 Assault Rifle (our pick). The season-launch buff to its Lancer Long Barrel Combo makes it one of the best-supported rifles in the mode, with longer range, faster bullets and better armor penetration. The October 9 limb nerf means you should aim center mass: leg and arm shots now hit for less.
MDR Assault Rifle. The new rifle fires 7.62x51mm, the same caliber as this season’s LS ammo, whose Level 5 penetration is built for armored targets. Expect more recoil with LS loaded (8% more vertical recoil, per the notes).
M14 Marksman Rifle. Its big magazines are now much easier to handle in Operations, which makes a high-capacity M14 a strong pick for mid-range fights.
Thompson SMG. The other new gun is the close-range option. In Operations, the .45 ACP CT ammo added last season deals 1.6x limb damage but has no penetration, so it suits lightly armored targets.
Best Weapons for Warfare
Warfare is the large-scale mode with vehicles and long sightlines.
K437 Assault Rifle (our pick). The Lancer Long Barrel Combo buff applies here too (+25% range and muzzle velocity), and the October 9 limb nerf was for Operations only, so it is at its strongest in Warfare.
M82 Sniper Rifle. Both of its key attachments got handling buffs in Warfare this season, and the Operations-only sniper movement penalty does not apply here.
Your unlock path matters. In Warfare, you unlock weapons through the Armory and its missions, so new guns like the MDR and Thompson need some playtime before you can field them.
Best Weapons for Detonation
Detonation is the 5v5 bomb defusal mode that arrived with the second anniversary, with its own economy and its own balance numbers. The October 15 update reshaped its buy choices:
- Buffed: the Desert Eagle (chest damage multiplier 1x to 1.375x, muzzle velocity 340 to 450 m/s) and the .357 Revolver (no damage falloff at any range, projectile velocity 340 to 650 m/s). Both are now strong picks on cheap rounds.
- Cheaper: the AS Val dropped from 2,700 to 2,500, making it, in our view, the value rifle of the mode.
- Pricier: the K437 rose from 2,700 to 3,000 and the MDR from 2,500 to 2,700.
- Nerfed: the FS-12 Shotgun (less damage in both its semi-auto and pump-action firing modes, on top of a September 30 limb and falloff nerf), the M700 Sniper Rifle (semi-auto damage 100 to 77, lower auto-mode headshot multiplier), the MK4 SMG in burst mode and the Thompson SMG (more falloff and a lower headshot multiplier with its Advanced Frame System).
Guns That Got Weaker
If your favorite gun feels off, check whether it was nerfed. Beyond this season’s changes above, Team Jade cut the M7 Battle Rifle (damage 38 to 37, lower limb multiplier) and the AS Val (damage 29 to 28, armor penetration 48 to 44) in Operations at the start of the previous season, Meltdown, on June 30. Both featured heavily in older tier lists.
How to Read Delta Force Tier Lists
Community tier lists from last season commonly put the CI-19, SMG-45 and M4A1 near the top, alongside older picks like the M7 and AS Val. Treat any list without a date with care: Team Jade ships balance changes several times a season, and the same gun can be tuned differently in Operations, Warfare and Detonation. Check a list’s date against the official patch notes, linked from the Delta Force Steam news page for the October 15 update.
The same patch-by-patch approach applies to other military shooters we cover, like our WARDOGS gun picks and our list of every new Battlefield 6 weapon in Season 5. If you play Operations for the extraction loop, our guides to the next Escape from Tarkov wipe and the ARC Raiders hub cover the genre’s other big games.
