Forza Horizon 6: How to Sell Cars

You sell cars in Forza Horizon 6 through the Auction House, a market where other players bid on or buy out your car. There is no option to sell a car back to the game for a fixed price: you list the car with a starting price, a buyout price and an auction length, and you collect the credits once someone buys it.

This guide walks through where the Auction House is, how to list a car step by step, how the July 2026 patch changed pricing, and which cars are worth selling.

How Selling Works in Forza Horizon 6

Forza Horizon 6 runs a player-driven car economy. The Auction House is the only way to turn a car into credits, and it sits alongside the Autoshow in the game’s buy and sell options. Every sale is to another player, so a car only sells if someone wants it at your price.

You can also remove a car from your garage to free up space (Playground fixed a bug in August 2026 that stopped players removing cars when their garage was full), but removing a car pays nothing back. If a car has any value, list it instead.

Where to Find the Auction House

The Auction House is part of the buy and sell options next to the Autoshow, which you reach from the Pause menu or from a house you own. It opens early in the campaign. Some players say it unlocks after you earn your first Wristband and buy your first house; if you do not see it yet, keep progressing through the opening Festival events and it will appear.

Step by Step: How to List a Car

  1. Open the Pause menu and go to the buy and sell options, then choose Auction House.
  2. Select Start Auction.
  3. Pick the car you want to sell from your garage.
  4. Set the Starting Price (the opening bid).
  5. Set the Buyout Price (the instant-buy price).
  6. Choose the Auction Length. The longest option is 24 hours.
  7. Confirm the listing.
  8. When the auction ends, return to the Auction House and collect your credits from your auctions list.

Pricing: What the July 2026 Patch Changed

Pricing was the big Auction House story of the summer. At launch, some rare cars were held under car-specific price caps. Playground’s Series 3 update on July 13, 2026 changed two things, in its own words:

  • “Removed Auction House price cap for cars not purchasable in the Autoshow.”
  • “Made a change where the Credit cap was being incorrectly applied to non-Auto Show cars in the Auction House.”

Since then, player reports describe a single buyout ceiling of 20 million credits, and rare cars that only come from Wheelspins, rewards or Aftermarket spawns have climbed sharply in price. Cars you can buy new in the Autoshow are still worth roughly what the Autoshow charges, because nobody pays far over the shop price.

Pricing tips:

  • Search the car first. Look at active listings for the same model and price just under the cheapest comparable one.
  • Set a low starting price and a high buyout. A low opening bid draws bidders, and a bidding war can push the final price up.
  • Use the longest auction length. More time means more players see the listing.
  • Mind upgrades and tunes. A car’s value comes mostly from its rarity, so expensive upgrades rarely earn back what you spent on them.

Which Cars Are Worth Selling

  • Wheelspin prizes and duplicates. Rare Wheelspin-exclusive cars are the most valuable things most players own. See our guide on how to get Super Wheelspins for where they come from.
  • Rare Aftermarket finds. Aftermarket Cars are usually discounted, and limited-time spawns (like the Wheelspin exclusives Playground added to themed dealerships) can be bought cheaply and listed for more.
  • Cars you used for Car Mastery. Players often buy a car for its Car Mastery perks, spend their Skill Points, then sell it to recover the cost.

Keep in mind that not every car can go. Playground treats Treasure Cars as permanent: the July 2026 patch fixed a bug that let players remove them from their garage by mistake.

Selling is one part of earning credits; our guide to making money fast in Forza Horizon 6 covers the rest, including the farms Playground has patched.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you sell cars without the Auction House in Forza Horizon 6? No. There is no sell-to-game option. Removing a car frees a garage slot but pays nothing.

How long does an auction last? You choose the length when you list the car. The maximum is 24 hours.

Is there a price cap on the Auction House? Playground removed the caps on cars that are not sold in the Autoshow on July 13, 2026. Player reports since then describe a 20 million credit buyout ceiling.

Can you sell cars to a friend? Not directly. The workaround players describe is listing the car on the Auction House and having your friend search for that model and buy it out straight away.

Can you sell cars offline? No. The Auction House is a market between players, so it needs an online connection.
