Pikmin 4 version 2.0.0 is out now, released November 4, 2026, and it adds support for the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, according to Nintendo’s Pikmin 4 update notes. The update is free, but the Switch 2 Edition itself still needs the paid upgrade pack, and Nintendo says upgrade owners can start playing it on November 12.
The Details
Nintendo’s patch notes list three changes:
- Switch 2 Edition support, when you play on Nintendo Switch 2. “Users who have purchased the upgrade pack will be able to play beginning on November 12, 2026.”
- A new title-screen option. “About the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition” now appears on the title screen menu when you start Pikmin 4 on a Switch 2, and it takes you to the upgrade pack’s page on the Nintendo eShop.
- Fixes “to improve the gameplay experience,” on both Switch 2 and the original Switch.
Nintendo also patched the Pikmin 4 demo to version 2.0.0, and notes that Dandori Academy in the Switch 2 Edition needs an internet connection to take exams and download new stages.
Nintendo Japan’s list of free Switch 2 updates now includes Pikmin 4 as well, with a sharper picture on the Switch 2’s own screen listed as the improvement.
