The Blood of Dawnwalker: How to Sell Silver

Silver is a trade good, not currency, and no ordinary merchant in The Blood of Dawnwalker will touch it. Exactly one NPC buys it: the Silver Trader, a fence hiding in a house deep inside Svartrau City. There are two separate ways to gain his trust, and one of them is far easier if you do it early.

Why Your Silver Is Worthless Right Now

Loot Vale Sangora for a few hours and you will be carrying silver items worth a few hundred Denarii each, with nobody willing to buy them. It is not a bug and you have not missed a menu. The single buyer simply has not been unlocked yet.

One warning before anything else: if you kill the Silver Trader, silver stays worthless for the rest of that playthrough. There is no replacement fence.

Route One: The “Into the Den” Quest

This is the cleaner route, and it is best done before you leave Laslea Glen, Coen’s home region.

  1. Head to the far north of Laslea Glen, up by the mountains.
  2. Kill the Ravenous Bear you find there.
  3. Use Focus Mode to locate a decapitated victim nearby, and loot the Tattered Letter from the body.
  4. Follow the letter to the marked house. Look for an X beneath a flat stone.
  5. Take the Letter With a Tip. This is the item that makes the trader trust you.

Route Two: Infamy

If you have already left the starting region, build Infamy instead. Reaching Level 4, “Notorious”, makes the trader recognise you on sight without any letter.

Infamy comes from Court Activities: destroying blood stocks, intercepting prisoner transports, and clearing guard camps. These are the same activities that raise a vrakhir’s Anger, so this route pairs naturally with hunting Ambrus.

Say the Right Line

Both routes end the same way, and this is where people get stuck after doing everything correctly. When you speak to him, choose the dialogue option “I know you trade in silver.” Without it he stays a stranger in a house and never opens a shop window.

Tips Most Players Miss

  • Hoard before you unlock him. Silver has no other use, so there is no downside to carrying it until the fence opens.
  • There is an achievement, Smuggler, for selling 1,000 Denarii worth of silver to him. It arrives naturally if you have been looting.
  • Silver is a large early income source, which matters given the campaign clock. Our money guide covers the other reliable earners, and our time limit guide explains why wasted segments cost more than wasted coin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why won’t merchants buy my silver?

Only the Silver Trader in Svartrau City buys silver. Regular merchants never will.

Can I unlock the Silver Trader late?

Yes, by reaching Infamy Level 4 through Court Activities. The Into the Den quest is easier but is tied to the Laslea Glen region.

What happens if I kill him?

Silver becomes permanently unsellable for that playthrough.

How much is silver worth?

Most silver items sell for a few hundred Denarii each, which makes a full inventory a meaningful payday.
