Marvel’s Wolverine ships with one of the deepest accessibility feature sets on PS5, including a Game Speed option that slows the entire game to 70, 50 or 30 percent, with a separate speed setting for combat only. Photo mode is here too, with seven tabs and a dedicated claws selector.
Start With the Presets
Rather than hunting through menus, there are presets for Hearing, Motion Sensitivity, Motor, Vision and Violence, each with partial and full variants. Applying a preset configures a sensible group of settings in one step, and you can adjust from there.
The Standout Options
Game Speed (Advanced) sets global speed to 100, 70, 50 or 30 percent, and there is a separate Combat Game Speed. Dialogue and cutscenes are unaffected. For a parry-timing game, slowing combat alone is transformative without making the rest feel sluggish.
Screen Reader (Advanced) is on by default, supports multiple languages, runs at speeds up to 400 percent, and has adjustable verbosity. Audio Descriptions cover cinematics and some non-cinematic moments.
Navigation Assist provides a direction trail or an R3 pointer to the nearest objective or enemy. Traversal Assist automates climbing, jumping and ledges.
High Contrast Mode offers outline or block colour options, a greyscale world, and a fully customisable palette for emphasis text, senses, threats and healing.
The game is officially playable without button holds, rapid presses, simultaneous presses, touch controls, vibration or adaptive triggers. Dodge and parry input timing windows are adjustable, which is the other feature that meaningfully changes the difficulty curve. Skippable Puzzles and Simplified QTEs are both available, and cinematics can be replayed or restarted.
Violence customisation deserves its own mention: blood, dismemberment and visceral healing are each independently toggleable, which is rare.
Insomniac also shipped a day-one patch fixing Navigation Assist and text-to-speech issues that were present in review builds, so make sure you are updated.
Photo Mode
Photo mode has seven tabs on a single icon rail:
- Camera: composition guides, camera type, tilt, visibility toggles, plus game-specific Rage FX and Display Senses toggles.
- Lens: field of view, exposure, aperture, focus distance, split depth of field.
- Appearance: suit selector, a dedicated claws selector, and separate claws and cowl toggles.
- Character Controls: pose, facial expressions, rotation, Action Figure Mode, and three position sliders.
- Filters and Overlays.
- Edit Light: a three-light rig with intensity, shadows, colour, spread, softness and distance.
The claws and cowl toggles are the fun ones, since they let you stage a shot with claws out regardless of what Logan was doing. Combine it with the suits you have crafted.
Some coverage notes photo mode arriving via the day-one update rather than on the disc, so if you cannot find it, update first.
