Iron Gate released Valheim Patch 1.0.15 on September 18, 2026, a day after 1.0.14, targeting a bug that was duplicating terrain and dragging down performance. The patch notes also improve two Deep North drop rates and explain, unusually candidly, which promised fix is still not ready.
The Details
The headline fix addresses terrain duplication that cost affected players frames. If you were hit by it, you may still see visual seams in your landscape. Iron Gate’s advice is to deform the terrain along the seams or walk through the snow there to clear them, and the important change is that those repairs now persist correctly instead of reappearing when the area reloads.
Two farming changes help the endgame. Deep North armor moulds now drop more often, because both Jotun Warrior types now drop both the medium and heavy moulds rather than splitting them. Writhan spawn rates and areas have also been increased.
The dev-command item mess is partially resolved: items affected by dev commands will no longer be flagged for characters that enabled the dev bypass command, the naming has been updated, and those items stack together again.
What Iron Gate Has Not Fixed Yet
Two admissions worth reading if you have been affected.
The broader problem of items incorrectly marked as cheated still has no fix in this patch. Iron Gate says one is planned but has to ship simultaneously on all platforms so crossplay does not break. In the meantime, they confirm you can keep playing with those items normally.
The lost item levels issue is worse, and the studio is straightforward about it: items on item stands and armour stands lost their levels and variants because of the 1.0 save format conversion, and that data is gone. It was fixed in Patch 1.0.12, so worlds converted from now on are safe. If you were caught by it, the workarounds are to revert to the backup made when you first loaded the new save format, losing all progress since, or to copy that backup, enter it, load the affected items onto your character, and carry them back into your main world.
What This Means for Players
If your framerate dropped after 1.0 and you assumed it was the new biome, check your terrain for seams before blaming your hardware. The fix is in, and the cleanup is manual but permanent now.
The mould change is the one that saves real time. Farming both Jotun Warrior types for a specific mould was the bottleneck on finishing Deep North gear, and our Deep North survival guide covers what that armour is for. Our Valheim guides hub covers the rest of the 1.0 picture, and modded players should re-check compatibility as always, since our mods guide notes each patch can re-break freshly updated mods.
When and Where
Patch 1.0.15 is live on Steam now and rolling out to other platforms over the next few days. Crossplay continues to work across versions during the staggered release.
