You cannot reach Snowhead Temple on foot in Majora’s Mask. The route needs the Goron Mask, because the gaps in the mountain road can only be crossed by rolling at full speed off the ramps built on either side of them. Before any of that, you have to stop the blizzard, and that is where the sequence actually starts.
Step One: Stop the Blizzard
Transform into a Goron and play the Goron Lullaby. Biggoron falls asleep and drops off the mountain, and the blizzard clears. Until this happens the path north is not usable, so any attempt to push through the snow before learning the Lullaby is wasted effort.
Step Two: The Road North
Head through the pass in the northwest corner of Mountain Village, just to the right of the shivering Goron.
From here the whole route is about momentum:
- Curl into a ball as Goron Link and build to maximum rolling speed.
- Hit the ramps along the path at full speed. The ramps are what carry you over the two large gaps in the road.
- Plough straight through any snowballs in your way. They do not stop you and slowing down for them costs you the speed you need.
Losing your rolling speed before a ramp means falling, so the instinct to slow down and line up the jump is exactly the wrong one.
Step Three: The Spiral to the Entrance
The final section is the part that stumps people, because it does not look like a path at all.
When you reach the large circular area at the north end of the zone, stay in rolling form at maximum speed. Start rolling around the cliff face going clockwise, which means rolling to the left. You will find yourself climbing a ramp that spirals up the wall of the bowl.
Ride it all the way to the top, smashing through snowballs as you go. At the top you crash into a snowdrift, which stops you. The doorway next to that snowdrift is the temple entrance.
Before You Go In
Snowhead Temple is a long dungeon, and the three-day clock does not pause for it. Make sure you understand how saving works in this game before committing, because losing a cycle deep inside a temple is a genuinely painful way to learn it.
