Health Pickups
The floating health icons are the standard answer. They appear:
- Outside every hospital, which are the reliable ones to memorise.
- Scattered across Liberty City, usually in recreational spaces: parks, rest stops, shopping areas.
One rule catches people: you cannot collect a health pickup from inside a vehicle. You have to get out and walk into it on foot. The same applies to armour pickups, though not to the police bribe stars, which you can drive through.
The Method That Overshoots
Paying a prostitute restores health, and it can take you up to roughly 125 percent, above the usual cap.
It is a documented mechanic rather than an easter egg, and it is the only way in this game to exceed a full health bar. The money is minor. What it costs you is time parked in one place, which is not ideal if anyone is looking for you.
Dying Is Not a Disaster
If you do die, you respawn outside the nearest hospital with your health restored. You lose your weapons and some cash, but not your mission progress in the broader sense.
That makes death an expensive reset rather than a catastrophe, and there are situations where running for a hospital pickup costs more than simply dying would. Worth knowing when you are one hit from the end of a long drive.
Armour Comes First
Body armour absorbs damage before your health does, which makes it more valuable than healing in most fights. Armour pickups sit in the same kinds of places as health ones, and the hidden packages unlock permanent spawns at your hideouts.
