Zelda Ocarina of Time: All Ocarina Songs and Where to Learn Them

King Dodongo boss fight

There are 12 ocarina songs in Ocarina of Time, and they split neatly in half: six learned as child Link, and six warp songs taught by Sheik once you are an adult. Five of the warp songs take you to a temple, and the sixth brings you back to the Temple of Time.

The Six Child Songs

Zelda’s Lullaby. Taught by Impa after you meet Zelda at Hyrule Castle. It opens royal-family doors and is used constantly, including for the Water Temple’s water levels.

Saria’s Song. From Saria in the Lost Woods, after following the music through the Sacred Forest Meadow. It lets you call her for hints.

Epona’s Song. From Malon at Lon Lon Ranch. It summons Epona. Our guide on how to get Epona covers the rest.

Sun’s Song. Found in the Kakariko Graveyard, in a grave you have to pull open. It switches day to night and back, and it stuns ReDeads.

Song of Time. Given by Zelda along with the Ocarina of Time itself. It opens the Door of Time and moves Time Blocks.

Song of Storms. From Guru-Guru in the windmill at Kakariko Village. It calls rain and drains the well. Worth noting: this is the game where Guru-Guru teaches it. In Majora’s Mask he does not, and our guide on the Song of Storms in Majora’s Mask covers that difference.

The Six Warp Songs

All six come from Sheik, each in a different place:

Minuet of Forest. At the entrance to the Forest Temple, after you have the Hookshot.

Bolero of Fire. In Death Mountain Crater, warping you to the Fire Temple.

Serenade of Water. In the Ice Cavern, warping you to Lake Hylia. Our guide on how to get to Lake Hylia covers the other routes there.

Nocturne of Shadow. In Kakariko Village, after the scene there, warping you to the Shadow Temple in the graveyard.

Requiem of Spirit. In the Desert Colossus, warping you there.

Prelude of Light. Taught after the Forest Temple, warping you back to the Temple of Time.

The One People Miss

The Sun’s Song is the one players most often reach the late game without. It is in a grave in the Kakariko Graveyard rather than being handed to you in a cutscene, so it is genuinely possible to walk past it.

It matters more than it looks: it stuns ReDeads, which are among the most unpleasant enemies in the game, and it controls the day and night cycle, which several side quests depend on.

Songs Are Permanent

Everything you learn stays learned, which makes songs the most reliable progress in the game. If you are working out what order to tackle things in, our guide on the best order to do the temples covers the sequence the item chain enforces.
