- Split the funds. Type an amount in the middle and click the arrow to send Simoleons with them, or leave them broke.
- Confirm. The Sim leaves as their own household, which you can move into a home or leave unplaced.

This works from Live Mode but moves the active Sim, so select the Sim who is leaving first.
- Click the departing Sim to make them active.
- Open their phone (below the portrait) and choose Travel.
- Select Split from Household and Move. Your Sim queues the action, then the household screen opens.
- Pick the destination. By default a new household is created; you can choose an existing household at the top instead.
- Split the funds at the bottom of the screen, then choose a lot to move them to.
EA’s Answers HQ bug forum has threads about this option failing to open for some players; if nothing happens, fall back on Manage Households.
Kids, Money and Relationships
- Children cannot be left alone. If every teen and adult leaves, babies, toddlers and children must go with them. You can, however, move a child with one parent and leave them with the other, which is the usual divorce setup.
- Money is not split automatically. Whatever you type is what they get. There is no penalty for sending a Sim away with nothing, apart from the story it tells.
- Relationships survive. Moving out does not erase family ties or friendships, so the Sim can still visit, call and, if you like, move back in later with the Ask to Move In social.
Evicting Tenants Is Different
If you own the For Rent Expansion Pack and are a landlord, tenants are not part of your household, so the steps above do not apply.
