Blizzard Raised the WoW: Forever Beta Population Cap Again, and Fixed a Login Queue Bug

Blizzard raised the population cap on the World of Warcraft: Forever beta for a second time on September 27, 2026, executive producer Holly Longdale said on X. Minutes earlier, community manager Kaivax confirmed on the official WoW forums that a bug which had been filling login queues after disconnects was fixed.

The Details

Longdale’s post was short: “So… we had to increase the WoW: Forever Beta population cap again. The wild ride continues.” The word “again” is the story. The beta opened on September 17, and Blizzard has now had to make room for more testers at least twice in under two weeks.

The queue fix matters just as much for anyone already in. Kaivax was answering a tester who reported “Getting login queue after disconnect,” a loop in which players who cleared one queue could be dropped and sent to the back of another. The reply: “We looked into this, and found an issue that was causing the queue to fill, and we just fixed the issue.”

The forum thread it appeared in is titled “Realm is full,” and it was started on September 26 by a tester asking why realms fill up at all when Forever’s servers are supposed to scale with demand. Blizzard has not answered that question directly, and it has not published the cap’s size or said whether new invite waves are coming. This follows a rough stretch earlier in the week: on September 25, Kaivax said the team was tracking server issues affecting some testers, and the beta realms were restarted that day to address stability.

What This Means for Players

If you are in the beta and kept landing back in a queue after a disconnect, Blizzard says the bug behind that loop is fixed, so a disconnect should no longer strand you in a fresh queue. A higher cap should also mean fewer “realm full” messages at busy times, though Blizzard has made no promise about queue lengths.

Neither change is an invitation for everyone. Beta access still comes through the routes in our guide to how long the WoW Forever beta runs, which also covers the level cap increase planned during testing and the wipe before launch. Check your graphics card against the GPU cutoff Blizzard set at the beta’s launch before you plan a night around it.

The bigger question is launch capacity, and a beta this crowded is the test Blizzard needs before servers open to every subscriber. Use the wait to decide which ruleset to choose and how the Legacy system rewards alts, and see what World of Warcraft costs each month once the launch version is included with a subscription. When and Where
