No, a ghost cannot have a baby in The Sims 4: EA’s official pregnancy guide states that “Ghost Sims can’t have children,” and that holds with every pack installed. Life and Death lets ghosts WooHoo, but the only official route to a baby is bringing the ghost back to life first, then trying for a baby as normal.
Below, we cover what ghosts can do in a relationship, every way to resurrect one (and which pack each needs), other ways to grow a family with a ghost partner, and why ghost babies do not exist in this game. It is all verified against EA’s help guides as of the current patch, and it plays the same on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
What Ghosts Can Do in a Relationship
Ghosts are part of the base game, and romance with them goes further than many players expect. Player guides describe living Sims flirting with, dating and marrying ghosts. EA’s ghost guide confirms that death ends a marriage, but ghost spouses can reinstate it with the Ask to Stay Married interaction.
WooHoo is where the Life and Death expansion pack comes in. Per EA’s WooHoo guide, it adds two kinds of ghostly WooHoo:
- Possess WooHoo: two ghosts WooHoo inside an object, which makes the object look possessed.
- Transcendent WooHoo: a living Sim and a ghost WooHoo together. The living Sim needs the Burning Soul trait and to have been reborn, or the ghost needs the Transcendent WooHoo ability from its Ghost Mastery panel.
Neither type offers Try for Baby. The pregnancy guide’s line on occult babies is unambiguous: werewolves, vampires, spellcasters, mermaids and aliens can all pass their occult type on to a baby, but ghosts cannot have children at all.
Bring the Ghost Back to Life First
Once a ghost is alive again, it is a regular Sim, and Try for Baby works as it would for anyone. EA’s death guide lists these resurrection methods; our full guide to bringing a ghost back to life walks through each one.
- Ambrosia (base game). Your Sim needs level 10 Cooking and level 10 Gourmet Cooking, plus an Angelfish, a Death Flower and a Potion of Youth. Choose Make Ambrosia, then give it to the ghost.
- Dedeathify spell (Realm of Magic). A Spellcaster who has mastered the Untamed School of Magic can cast it on a ghost.
- Wishing Well (Romantic Garden Stuff). Choose Wish for Life. EA warns the well can backfire and curse your Sim instead.
- The Book of Life (base game). Unlocked at the final level of the Bestselling Author aspiration. Write it on the computer, bind it to a Sim with Capture Epic Saga, then Summon the ghost and have them read it.

Other Ways to Grow the Family
If you would rather keep the ghost a ghost, there are still official ways to bring a baby into the household:
- Science Baby. EA’s pregnancy guide says a Sim can have a baby alone through the phone’s Home app by choosing Have Science Baby.
- Adoption. A living Sim in the household can adopt through the phone (Home app > Hire a Service > Call the Adoption Agency) or the computer (Household > Adopt Sim), per EA.
- Rebirth (Life and Death). A Sim who completes the Dreams Fulfilled tier of their Soul’s Journey can be reborn. EA’s Soul’s Journey guide says the reborn Sim starts out as an infant resembling their past life, so it is a second life for the ghost rather than their child.
- The Grim Reaper. He is not a ghost, and with Life and Death he can father a baby. See our guide to romancing the Grim Reaper.
Why There Are No Ghost Babies
EA’s ghost guide lists who can be a ghost: elders, adults, young adults, teens and children, plus elder cats and dogs (Cats and Dogs) and elder horses (Horse Ranch). Infants and toddlers are not on the list, and Create a Sim only makes ghosts from child to elder, so there is no way to have a baby ghost in normal play. The community wiki notes this is a change from The Sims 3, where playable ghosts could have ghost babies.
On PC and Mac, community mods exist that unlock Try for Baby for ghosts. They are unofficial, can break after game updates, and are not available on consoles. EA’s official cheat console has pregnancy cheats, but EA documents them only for adjusting an existing pregnancy.
