- Select a Sim in the household who is at home on the lot.
- Click an exterior door of the house, usually the front door. With Seasons installed, the door’s pie menu includes a house lights option alongside the usual lock settings.
- Pick a lighting style from the submenu. Seasons offers several strands and colors, including themed sets that suit the different holidays.
- Let the Sim work. The Sim walks outside and puts the lights up, and they appear along the house. No Build Mode placement is needed; the game fits them to the building for you.
Because the lights follow the house’s outline, oddly shaped roofs and multi-story builds can give uneven results. If a strand looks wrong, try again from a different exterior door or simplify the roofline around the entrance. Changing or Removing the Lights
To swap styles, click the same exterior door again and choose a different option from the house lights submenu. The Sim replaces the old set with the new one.
To take the lights down, click the door and choose the option that removes them. There is no penalty for leaving lights up all year, so many players simply switch styles as the holidays change rather than removing them.
If the option to remove them is missing, check that you are clicking an exterior door on the same lot and that the Sim is at home. Some players also report that a stuck interaction clears after saving and reloading.
Timing Lights Around the Seasons Holidays
Seasons splits the year into spring, summer, fall and winter, and each has a holiday on its last Thursday by default: Love Day in spring, Leisure Day in summer, Spooky Day in fall, and Snowflake Day in winter. You can change season length in the game options, which moves the holiday to the last day of each season instead.
Most players put up lights for Snowflake Day, the winter holiday, when Sims get a day off and a festive mood boost, and can throw a gift-giving party from the phone.
