Battlefield 6 Game Update 2.1.1.0 launches Season 5: Siege of Vegas on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, according to the full patch notes EA and the Battlefield team published on Steam on October 12. The update downloads on every platform from 8:00 UTC (4:00 AM ET), and Season 5 content unlocks at 12:00 UTC (8:00 AM ET).
What Season 5 Adds
Two maps arrive. Vegas Strip mixes casinos, rooftop ziplines and storm drains with land vehicles and helicopters. Area 51 brings jets and tanks to a desert base, with underground tunnels and a control tower that can be brought down.
Four new weapons open the season: the Mk 24 assault rifle, the RSPR personal defence weapon, the Z84M, a belt-fed light machine gun with a 100-round capacity, and the ELR-40 bolt-action sniper rifle. EA’s October 9 preview promised six weapons and two vehicles across the whole season, so the opening update is not the full arsenal.
REDSEC gets Rapid Royale, a faster Battle Royale with a lower player count and earned redeploys, and Ranked Battle Royale officially leaves Battlefield Labs. Battlefield 6 is also free to try on PlayStation 5 from October 14 and on Steam from October 15, through October 19, per EA’s trial terms; Xbox is not part of the trial. From October 20 to November 10, the Battlefield 6 x Dead Space: Convergence Event adds Marker Incursion, a 16-player PvE mode built around a Pulse Rifle pickup.
Update, October 13, 2026: Battlefield 6 joined EA Play on October 13, so it is now included with Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming, per EA on Xbox Wire.
The Balance Changes That Matter
Anti-air is the headline. Mobile Anti-Air turrets rotate 50% faster, and 35mm High Velocity rounds now deal 62.5 damage to jets, up from 32.5. Light rocket splash damage drops 30%, and the rocket pod resupply grows from 28 to 38 seconds, which the team says ends one-hit infantry kills at common ranges. Tanks and infantry fighting vehicles now take 8 seconds to regenerate from critical to full.
One planned change did not make it. Making low-flying aircraft more vulnerable to infantry lock-on missiles “needed some more iterations” after Battlefield Labs testing, the team writes.
In REDSEC, the Hazmat Breacher and Drone Operator training paths are removed, armor plating is 20% faster by default, and most assault rifles, LMGs, carbines and SMGs need one more bullet to kill armored players at set ranges.
What This Means for Players
When we covered the Season 5 and Year 2 plans, EA had not given a start date; now the season is a day away, and most of those planned vehicle and anti-air changes shipped with real numbers. Helicopter pilots lose their easiest infantry kills, and anti-air gunners get a weapon worth manning. Friends on PlayStation or Steam who never bought in can join you during the free trial.
Season 5 lands as Call of Duty readies Modern Warfare 4’s DMZ mode in a crowded October release slate, while EA moves Apex Legends to Javelin anti-cheat.
Updated October 13, 2026: EA’s trial terms open the PlayStation 5 free trial a day earlier, on October 14, and EA’s notes now run the Dead Space Convergence event to November 10.
