You amplify a weapon in ARC Raiders at your Outpost: once your workshop is fully upgraded, amplification opens a fifth quality level for 15 guns, with branching upgrade paths that change how each one behaves. Players who have reached it report that it takes a Level 4 Research Station, a Level 4 Gunsmith, an Amplification Module that matches the weapon’s rarity, and Research Points for each perk.
Weapon Amplification is the late-game system Embark added in Frozen Trail, the 2.0 update released on October 8, 2026. It is a long road, built around the two hardest new activities in the game, so below we lay out every requirement in order, which guns qualify, and how to avoid losing an upgraded weapon you spent days building.
What Weapon Amplification Is
In its Frozen Trail preview, Embark says it wanted to “systemically change how you interact with combat in the late game.” Using “the fully-upgraded Research Workstation in your Outpost,” raiders can “access a fifth quality level for a range of guns,” which unlocks “a branching path of abilities and enhancements” that “can completely change their behavior.”
Embark’s own examples show how far it goes:
- a fully automatic Burletta;
- a Renegade with a scope;
- a Rattler with incendiary bullets and a 64-bullet drum magazine.
The system launched on 15 weapons, and Embark says more are planned.
Everything You Need to Amplify a Weapon
Embark’s posts confirm the Outpost and a fully upgraded Research Workstation. The rest of this list comes from launch-week guides and item trackers, which agree with each other on every point, but Embark has not published the costs itself:
- The Outpost. Research only exists once the Outpost project is done. Our Outpost unlock guide covers all three stages.
- Research Station at Level 4. Trackers list the final upgrade as 3 Thermal Shakers, 3 ARC Data Modules and 1 Frigate Inductor, a Legendary part from the ARC Frigate.
- Gunsmith at Level 4. Guides list 3 Radial Press, 3 Magnetic Accelerators and 1 Emperor Modulator, a Legendary part from inside the fallen Emperor on Pendola Pass.
- The weapon at its highest normal tier. Amplification is the fifth quality level, so guides say the gun must already be at tier IV.
- A matching Amplification Module. Modules come in Mk. I to Mk. V and must match the weapon’s rarity. Guides report they come from the ARC Frigate and the fallen Emperor, the same two places as the station parts.
- Research Points. Each amplification perk is a Level 4 research project, reported at 5,000 Research Points. Our Research Points guide covers where to earn them.
Some guides also list a Pneumatic Actuator and a Pressure Regulator among the materials, so check the recipe in game before you deploy.
Step-by-Step: How to Amplify a Weapon
- Unlock the Outpost and upgrade it alongside the Research Station. Trackers say each station level needs a matching Outpost level.
- Farm the Frigate for a Frigate Inductor and finish Research Station Level 4.
- Get inside the fallen Emperor for an Emperor Modulator and finish Gunsmith Level 4.
- Research the perk you want at the Research Station.
- Bring a tier IV copy of the weapon and the matching Amplification Module to the Gunsmith and apply the amplification. Guides describe this under the Gunsmith’s weapon upgrade options.
Launch-week guides also warn that an amplification perk is permanent: once applied, it becomes part of that weapon and cannot be swapped. Pick your path before you commit the module.
Which Weapons Can Be Amplified
Guides agree on the same 15 launch weapons, grouped by the module each one needs:
| Module | Weapons |
|---|---|
| Mk. I (Common) | Hairpin, Kettle, Rattler |
| Mk. II (Uncommon) | Burletta, Il Toro |
| Mk. III (Rare) | Anvil, Canto, Osprey, Rascal, Renegade |
| Mk. IV (Epic) | Bettina, Hullcracker |
| Mk. V (Legendary) | Aphelion, Equalizer, Jupiter |
The Anvil sits in the Rare group because Frozen Trail raised its rarity from Green to Blue. Embark also turned the old Anvil Splitter mod into “an improved upgrade option for the Amplified Anvil” and removed the Anvil’s Tech Mod slot.
Keeping an Amplified Weapon Alive
- Repairs use Amplified Fragments. Embark says Amplified Weapons are repaired with Amplified Fragments. Leftover Anvil Splitters can be recycled into Fragments, per the patch notes.
- You can still lose it. Embark’s notes are clear that weapons can be looted when you are downed. Guides report a looted Amplified Weapon drops to around 10% durability, which makes it less of a prize, but you still lose your copy.
- Stencils do not protect it. Embark warns that “Raiders who best you will be more than happy to take your personalized weapon,” stencil and all. Of the 14 launch stencils, Embark says 8 are found Topside and 5 sit in the Premium Pass, which our Reward Pass breakdown covers.
Which Amplified Weapons Look Strongest
No pro consensus has formed in the first week, so this is our reading of Embark’s own notes. The Hullcracker benefits most from Frozen Trail’s explosive rework, which added over 50% damage against ARC armor plates. The Jupiter was fixed so damage no longer propagates twice through ARC parts, which Embark says makes it “stronger against armor, but slightly weaker against weak spots.” And Embark’s showcase examples, the automatic Burletta and the drum-fed incendiary Rattler, turn cheap common and uncommon guns into much more aggressive tools, with far cheaper modules than a Legendary.
