Pokemon TCG Pocket Is Slowing Down Pack Releases for Its New Series

Pokemon TCG Pocket will move from a new booster pack roughly every four weeks to one roughly every six weeks when its new series starts at the end of October 2026, the game’s Operations Team said in a producer letter published on October 15, 2026. The letter also adds new ways to earn Immersive Cards, an in-game Community Decks feature and rental decks with unlimited uses.

The Details

The team says the slower cycle answers player feedback that the number of cards in each pack “up to B series has made collecting difficult”, and it plans to fill the extra time with more events and missions. The new series also debuts dual-type Pokemon. Per the letter:

  • Immersive Cards as mission rewards. You will still pull them from packs, but completing collections will also unlock different Immersive Cards through missions.
  • Special Pack: First Partners. A new kind of pack, opened with special pack stamina that recovers once a week, with cards of the first partner Pokemon from all nine main-series regions.
  • 1-star promo cards. Event missions added each week for three weeks, each completed set earning one of three illustrated promo cards.
  • Community Decks. Browse popular decks and your friends’ decks in the game, then copy them with your own cards.
  • Rental decks. Available as soon as a new pack releases, usable an unlimited number of times, and allowed in versus battles.
  • Limited battle events. Events with restricted card pools a set period after each pack, with accessories, promo packs and more based on your number of wins.
  • Trading and sharing. While trading, you will see cards of any rarity missing from your partner’s card dex, and you will be able to spot cards on a share partner’s wishlist.

The letter ends with a caveat: everything is still in development, “and the contents and timing of the update are subject to change.”

What This Means for Players

The slower schedule is the headline. Collectors who fell behind get more time with each set, and the collection missions turn finishing a set into a route to Immersive Cards instead of pure pack luck. Competitive players gain the most from Community Decks and unlimited rental decks, which let you try a popular deck before you spend anything building it.

The trading change removes guesswork: you will see what your partner is missing before you make an offer. The update lands close to the game’s second anniversary, since it launched on October 30, 2024.

If you play more than one Pokemon game, the fall is busy. Pokemon Pokopia’s Halloween event starts on October 17, Pokemon GO players can work through both ways to get Umbreon, and every guide we have is on the Pokemon hub.
