Halloween: The Game ships with eight Michael Myers skins, and they cover every unlock vector the game has: purchases, story challenges, prestige grinds, and mastery tracks. Two of them reference deep franchise cuts (yes, including the clown). Here’s the full list and how to earn each one.
All Eight Skins
- 1978: the default. The Shape, as filmed.
- Phantom: the pre-order bonus. If you didn’t pre-order, this one’s off the board.
- Inmate: included with the Digital Deluxe Edition ($59.99 tier).
- Ghost: complete all of Michael’s Story Chapter Challenges, the single-player mode’s completion reward (the same challenge system as the strangle Annie mission).
- Clown: reach Profile Prestige 1. Young Michael’s 1963 costume, for the players who know where it all started.
- Scorched: reach Michael Myers Prestige 1 (the Killer track specifically; the prestige system runs separate tracks).
- Stitched: earn “Legend of Haddonfield” in the 1978 Progressive Challenge Collection.
- Samhain: reach Tier 5 of “The Shape’s Approval” in the Shape Mastery Progressive Challenges, the long-haul mastery grind.
The Unlock Vectors, Explained
The skins map the game’s whole progression surface:
- Money: Phantom (pre-order) and Inmate (Deluxe) were purchases; everything else is play.
- Story mode: Ghost pays out the single-player chapter challenges, making the campaign double as a cosmetics track.
- Prestige: Clown and Scorched reward resetting maxed Profile and Killer tracks respectively; if you’re prestiging anyway, the costumes are the receipts.
- Progressive Challenges: Stitched and Samhain sit atop long challenge chains, the closest thing the game has to veteran badges.
Grinding Order for Skin Hunters
- Ghost first: story challenges are solo, deterministic, and teach Michael’s kit (our abilities guide helps).
- Killer Prestige for Scorched: maining Michael levels the track you need anyway.
- Stitched and Samhain accumulate through play; check the Progressive Challenge menus so eligible actions actually track.
- Clown lands whenever your overall Profile crosses its first prestige.
Patch note worth knowing: the September 11 update (1.0.2) fixed prestige and challenge tracking bugs, so if a skin didn’t unlock in week one despite meeting the bar, recheck; the fix also unstuck five achievements.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the Phantom skin still be obtained? Pre-order bonuses occasionally return in editions or promotions; nothing announced, so treat it as closed.
Do skins change gameplay? Cosmetic only; Michael’s silhouette stays readable by design in an asymmetric game.
Do civilians get skins too? Character customization exists across the roster; the Deluxe adds civilians Richard and Alexis outright.
Will October bring event skins? IllFonic runs seasonal content in its other games and this one’s literally named Halloween; nothing’s announced, but Samhain-season cosmetics feel inevitable.
