Blood Pact is the Halloween event in Apex Legends, running from October 13 to November 3, 2026, and it turns Wildcard into a faction fight: you pledge to the Beasts or the Demons, then earn that side’s Wild Cards by meeting a damage or knockdown challenge each round. Beasts get speed and reload perks, Demons get faster ability charge and stronger shields, and it all plays out on a fog-covered, haunted Kings Canyon.
Below is how the base Wildcard mode works, what every faction Wild Card does according to EA, how to pick a side, what else changes on the map, and when the developers are taking questions about it.
Blood Pact at a Glance
| Dates | October 13 to November 3, 2026 |
| Mode | Wildcard (Freestyle) |
| Map | Haunted Kings Canyon |
| Factions | Beasts or Demons |
| Developer AMA | October 14, 1 PM to 3 PM Eastern |
Every detail below comes from EA’s Blood Pact event page and Respawn’s posts on the game’s official Steam news feed unless we say otherwise. The event closes on the same day Season 30 ends, so it is the last thing Marked has to offer.
How Wildcard Works
If you have only played Trios or Ranked, Wildcard is a different, faster game. EA’s game modes help page calls it the main Freestyle mode, “designed to keep things fun, with a focus on shooting, not looting.” The key differences:
- Smaller, shorter matches. Around 15 minutes with 30 players.
- Free Legend picks. Everyone picks at once, and the same Legend can appear more than once in a squad.
- Simplified loot. No backpacks, knockdown shields, med kits, helmets or attachments. Weapons come pre-kitted and level up as you collect EVO Orbs.
- Easy recovery. Legends heal automatically out of combat, everyone starts with a self-revive kit, and revivals stay available until the last Ring as long as one teammate is alive.
The Wild Cards themselves are the mode’s perks, and Blood Pact swaps the usual set for two faction-specific ones.
Beasts vs Demons: Every Wild Card
You pledge to one side, and only that side’s Wild Cards are yours to earn. Here is every card EA lists:
| Faction | Wild Card | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Beasts | Evasive Maneuvers | Move faster and gain a Double Jump while your weapons are stowed |
| Beasts | Fast Draw | Reload weapons and use shield cells faster |
| Beasts | Critical Roll | Temporary critical hits on reload |
| Demons | Speedy Charge | Tactical and Ultimate charge faster |
| Demons | Shields Up | Epic Level shields |
| Demons | Super Cells | Cells regenerate all shield health |
EA’s Steam version of the announcement words the Beast perks slightly differently, as “bonus melee movement speed, faster cells and weapon switching, and temporary critical hits on reload,” so expect small differences between the blog and what the in-game card text says. Fast Draw has been tuned before: Respawn’s October 2 update cut its reload benefit to 25% from 35% and its consumable speed benefit to 25% from 50%.
How You Earn Wild Cards in Blood Pact
In Blood Pact you do not loot your Wild Cards; you earn them. Per EA, “every round throws down a fresh challenge: if you can deal enough damage or land enough knocks, the Wild Card is yours.” EA’s own screenshot of the mode shows the challenge tracker in the top left of the HUD and a “Wild Card Earned” banner once a Deal Damage challenge is complete.
That changes how a match should be played:
- Take fights early. Challenges reset every round, so a round spent hiding is a Wild Card you never get.
- Track the current challenge. If the round asks for knocks, finishing a damaged enemy is worth more than spreading damage across a squad.
- Stay with your squad. Wildcard’s revivals only work while at least one teammate is still alive, and EA’s event page talks about earning powers “for your squad.”
Which Side to Pick
There is no wrong answer, but the two kits suit different habits, based on what EA says each card does:
- Pick Beasts if you play aggressive, fast Legends and like to chase. Faster movement with weapons stowed and a Double Jump help you close distance through the fog, and quicker reloads plus critical hits after reloading reward the player who keeps shooting.
- Pick Demons if your Legend lives on abilities or you prefer to hold ground. Faster Tactical and Ultimate charge means more ability use per fight, and Epic Level shields with full-shield cells make you much harder to knock.
EA’s page does not say whether you can switch sides between matches, so check the pledge screen when you queue.
The Haunted Kings Canyon
The whole event happens on a Halloween version of Kings Canyon. EA lists these changes:
- Random fog that can roll in at any time, “hiding squad movement and reducing sightlines.”
- Rev Shell Grenades are back, which seek out whoever is lurking in the dark. They are the counter to campers in the fog.
- Haunted extras: haunted buildings, glowing Nessies, haunted Loot Bins and pumpkin-skinned EVO Orbs.
The Blood Pact Store
The event’s cosmetics are in the Blood Pact Store. EA highlights Sparrow’s 80s werewolf Legend Skin with a Character Select Animation, Alter’s demon Legend Skin, a new R-99 weapon skin, and Beast and Demon Legend Retheme Bundles. EA’s image of the store also lists Blood Pact offers for Octane, Fuse, Conduit and Revenant. The event page does not mention a free reward track.
The Wildcard AMA on October 14
Respawn is holding an AMA about Wildcard on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 1 PM to 3 PM Eastern (10 AM to noon Pacific). The AMA announcement names Lead Technical Designer RSPN_JeffWright and Senior Technical Game Designer RSPN_Danja as the developers answering. Respawn asks for one or two questions per person, kept to Wildcard, posted ahead of time.
It is a good moment to ask about faction balance. During the Street Fighter 6 event in September, Respawn brought standard Wildcard back alongside the event version after player feedback, and the Blood Pact notes do not say whether regular Wildcard runs alongside it this time.
PC players should also know the game now runs on EA’s own anti-cheat: our news on EA Javelin replacing Easy Anti-Cheat covers what changed. If you want more Halloween shooting after a few rounds, Team Fortress 2’s Scream Fortress XVIII is live too.
