Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Adds New Game Plus

New Game Plus arrived in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on Thursday, November 5, 2026, in Title Update 1.8.0, a free patch Ubisoft calls “The Most Requested Update,” per Ubisoft’s Steam post. It went live at 9:00 AM EST (6:00 AM PST) on all platforms, and it also adds a new resource, higher gear upgrades, a Stash, and a Rune Forge overhaul.

The Details

  • New Game Plus: it unlocks after the Holy Day quest, the last quest of the Hamtunscire region. Ubisoft says that comes before the game’s true ending, and each New Game Plus cycle gets harder.
  • Mithril: a new resource. In New Game Plus, gear or a book of knowledge you already own turns into Mithril instead, and the Niflheim, Mastery, and River Raid shops sell it.
  • Platinum without the DLC: in New Game Plus, Carbon, Nickel, and Tungsten from Wealth Chests become Platinum, so Divine gear upgrades no longer need Dawn of Ragnarok.
  • Higher cap: Divine gear now upgrades to level 27, up from 13, using Mithril.
  • Extended Progression Mode: an option where gear upgrades and runes each add a point of Power, and masteries add Power every 5 skill points.
  • Stash: a new chest in Ravensthorpe that stores any gear or rune.
  • Rune Forge: upgrade runes for silver up to a new Superior tier (that last step costs Mithril), and engrave more than 300 new runes, including perks from DLC and Helix Store gear.
  • Extras: a Naoe Master Assassin outfit, two new achievements, PSSR 2 support on PS5 Pro, and balance changes to masteries and weapon damage.

What This Means for Players

The new progression is not locked behind a second playthrough. Lead game designer David Larouche told Xbox Wire that the extended progression mode, divine gear upgrades, new rune tier, and engravable perks “are available without New Game+ as well.” If you have a finished save sitting idle, load it up: the Stash alone makes a crowded endgame inventory easier to manage.

Plan your update download, too. Ubisoft lists it at 15.02 GB on Xbox Series X|S, 7.8 GB on Steam, and 5.26 GB on PS5.
