Remedy confirmed the global launch schedule for CONTROL Resonant on September 18, 2026, with a worldwide digital release and a region-by-region unlock graphic. The same day, PlayStation published a detailed breakdown of how Dylan Faden plays, and the short version is that he is built almost in opposition to his sister.
Melee First, Not Telekinesis
Jesse Faden’s Control was defined by ranged psychokinetic combat: pick up the room, throw it. Dylan’s kit emphasises melee.
His shapeshifting Aberrant weapon has two forms with customisable status effects including burn and infect. Combat Abilities consume Power, which he regains through melee strikes, so the loop pushes you toward closing distance rather than holding it. Stunned enemies open up chainable execution moves on L3.
Traversal has been rebuilt to match. Dylan gets a double jump with elevation, an air dash, and a quick dash with an afterimage, which is a considerably more mobile kit than the original’s float.
The Structure Around It
Remedy is not making this an open world. PlayStation describes “digestible and focused sandboxes” within a warped Manhattan, including gravity-distorted areas the article compares to Inception.
Progression runs through six Aberrant options producing what Remedy calls dozens of loadout combinations, alongside multiple skill trees. There is a limbo-like hub called the Gap where you test loadouts, and optional memory-based mini-quests where Dylan recreates scenes using objects in the environment. Missions are prioritised across story content, side quests and arcade challenges.
Dylan himself is characterised as shy and hesitant, a consequence of years spent both in a coma and incarcerated by the Federal Bureau of Control.
On PS5 specifically, the DualSense provides haptic feedback during horror moments and pipes radio chatter through the controller speaker.
What This Means for Players
If you loved Control for the Service Weapon and the throw, be aware you are getting a different combat game rather than more of the same one. The melee-for-Power loop rewards aggression in a way the original actively did not.
Resonant also arrives in the same narrow window as another major horror release, which makes it a genuinely crowded week for the genre. Our best horror games of 2026 covers what the year has already delivered, and both of these releases are going to reshape the top of it. If you are choosing between them, our Silent Hill Townfall coverage covers the other one.
When and Where
CONTROL Resonant launches worldwide digitally on September 24, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC, with unlock times varying by region. Physical console editions and a Mac version follow later.
