A PlayStyle in EA FC 27 is a trait that gives a player a specific ability beyond their attributes, such as faster finesse shots or longer interception reach, and a PlayStyle+ is a stronger version of the same trait. The regular PlayStyle shows as a silver badge, the PlayStyle+ as a gold one, and either activates automatically when the player performs the related action in a match.
Below is every PlayStyle EA lists for FC 27, grouped the way EA groups them, with what the base and plus versions do, followed by the ten that EA rebalanced this year and how you add PlayStyles in Ultimate Team, Career Mode and The Grounds. Descriptions are condensed from EA’s official “PlayStyles: Everything You Need to Know” article for EA SPORTS FC 27 and its Gameplay Deep Dive.

What EA Changed for FC 27
EA’s Gameplay Deep Dive says certain PlayStyles “could feel too impactful,” so FC 27 narrows the gap between PlayStyles and raw attributes. The ten changes, in EA’s words condensed:
- Finesse Shot: spin, animation speed and off-angle effectiveness now scale with the shooter’s attributes, shrinking the gap between no PlayStyle, PlayStyle and PlayStyle+.
- Technical Dribbler: the + version is still smoother, but by less.
- Intercept: players without the PlayStyle but with high Interceptions now get more reach.
- Rapid: slightly smaller dribbling speed boost.
- Quick Step: smaller acceleration boost, so the Acceleration attribute matters more.
- Pinged Pass: no longer reduces trap error for the receiver.
- Tiki Taka: lost its animation speed boost and receiver trap bonus.
- Jockey: non-PlayStyle players jockey-sprint faster, and the PlayStyle’s exit boost is smaller.
- Precision Header: smaller gap between PlayStyle and PlayStyle+.
- Low Driven: no longer adds shot speed; it still adds accuracy.
EA’s Closed Beta Feedback Update also “slightly reduced” the extra benefit from Bruiser+ after physical play dominated the beta. In Ultimate Team, EA has cut the maximum number of PlayStyle+ on a single item from five to three this year, so each gold badge counts for more when you pick a squad. Our best tactics guide pairs these traits with roles.
How to Get PlayStyles in Each Mode
- Ultimate Team: items come with their own PlayStyles, and some Evolutions add a PlayStyle or PlayStyle+ within that Evolution’s limits. The PlayStyles Lab returns as a recurring program from Season 1, letting you customise part of an eligible item’s PlayStyles. Browse the best-equipped cards in our highest rated players list.
- Career Mode (Manager): players can gain PlayStyles through Training or while developing in the Youth Academy. Our best young players guide is a good place to find prospects.
- Player Career and The Grounds: your created player earns PlayStyles by meeting prerequisites such as attribute thresholds or by picking them when levelling up. In The Grounds, Signature Amps can also lend a PlayStyle or PlayStyle+ for a limited number of matches.
EA’s own tip for learning them: take a player with the PlayStyle into the Practice Arena, then compare the same action with a player who lacks it. More guides are on our EA FC 27 hub.

Were any PlayStyles nerfed in FC 27? EA rebalanced ten, including Finesse Shot, Rapid, Quick Step, Tiki Taka and Low Driven, and later trimmed Bruiser+.
