Faraway, the arcade game Steph Thirion made from design to code to music, is out now, Thirion announced on Steam on November 5, 2026, as publisher Annapurna Interactive posted its launch trailer. It costs $9.99, and Steam has it at $7.99 with a 20% launch discount.
The Details
Steam’s store page calls Faraway “an endless procedurally generated, mastery-driven arcade game about a shooting star that creates constellations to stay alive.” Annapurna announced it in October for PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch, all launching on the same day, and both Xbox and PlayStation posted the launch trailer on their own channels this morning.
Thirion’s launch note doubles as a quick primer on how scoring works. You fly as a shooting star and:
- Slingshot around stars in any direction.
- Pull a string of light between stars to build a constellation.
- Do loops to activate a multiplier.
- Trigger a special star that releases a burst of sparks.
- Connect every star inside the orb to trigger a 100% bonus that doubles your points.
The note ends with an invitation to beat a friend’s score, and Thirion asks players to share any constellation that makes them happy, “today or in 10 years.”
What This Means for Players
Faraway is a score chaser rather than a story game: every run is generated, so the point is getting better at the same systems, and the loop multiplier and the orb’s doubling bonus are the two to learn first. Steam’s launch discount also makes it cheaper to try now than at full price.
