GTA 6’s main fast travel option is RydeMe, a ride-share app on Jason and Lucia’s phones that gets you to a destination quickly, according to Game Informer’s cover story. Preview reports say buses, trains, trams and taxis are options too, and that a separate app can deliver your own car to you.

RydeMe: The Ride-Share App
RydeMe is GTA 6’s take on Uber and Lyft. Game Informer describes it as a fast travel option that “will let you reach destinations quickly,” and IGN’s preview calls it “a taxi app called Ryde Me” that you can use to fast travel.
The twist is that rides can be shared. Game Informer says “you can even chat with passengers if you’re sharing a ride,” and IGN reports you can hold full conversations with other passengers. That fits Rockstar’s push for ambient dialogue: Game Informer notes the studio has a team in Los Angeles dedicated solely to writing NPC chatter.
Rockstar hasn’t shown the full booking process or the fares yet, so we’ll add those details at launch.
Other Ways to Get Around
Beyond RydeMe, here’s what’s been reported:
- Public transport. Vice, relaying reports from creators at the previews, says fast travel options include buses, trains, trams and taxis. One creator couldn’t confirm whether trains count as fast travel or are just rideable, so treat that one as open.
- Your own car, delivered. The same reports mention an app called Scooter Bros that delivers your personal vehicle to you.

- Driving yourself. Game Informer points out the radio has new licensed songs and “plenty of amusing ads” for anyone taking a road trip instead.
The New Map
Navigation gets an upgrade too. Game Informer describes “an improved map that resembles satellite imagery,” and IGN’s preview says the pause map uses satellite imagery in place of the older style. One limit: you can’t travel everywhere at first. Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, told the French magazine TroisCouleurs that you “start way down here in the Keys for the first part of the game,” before the game “just opens and you can go anywhere, anytime.”
How It Compares to GTA 5 and Red Dead 2
GTA 5’s fast travel was mostly taxis: hail one or call one, then skip the ride for a fare. Red Dead Redemption 2 hid fast travel behind a camp upgrade, with trains and stagecoaches as the alternatives. GTA 6 moves the taxi onto your phone as an app, which is a natural fit for a game set in the present day.

What Isn’t Confirmed Yet
A few fast travel claims circulate without an official source:
- Bus stops as fast travel points. Posted by fan accounts, not confirmed by Rockstar.
- GTA-branded Metromover trains. These were part of a proposed real-world marketing deal in Miami-Dade, not something shown in the game.
- No loading screens. Repeated widely, but Rockstar hasn’t said it.
- How RydeMe fares work or whether you can skip the ride. Not shown yet.
