Moon Sweepers: Can You Sell Vehicles? Answered

No, you cannot sell vehicles in Moon Sweepers, as of version 1.0.5. Once you buy a vehicle it is yours for the rest of the save: DragDrop Games’ patch notes say a garage can call your vehicles back, store them and upgrade them, and selling is not one of the options.

That makes a vehicle purchase permanent, so it is worth knowing what you can do with one instead, what happens to it when you tear down a garage, and where refunds do apply. Below we cover all of it, plus what the developers have said about the next big update.

What You Can Do With a Vehicle Instead

The version 1.0.3 patch notes spell out exactly what garages do with the vehicles you own:

  • Call them back. Any garage can summon a vehicle you own, so you never have to drive back across the Moon to fetch it.
  • Store them. Park a vehicle at any garage when you are working on foot.
  • Upgrade them. Vehicle upgrades are bought at the garage too.
  • No duplicates. The patch notes add that “you won’t be offered a vehicle you already own,” so you cannot buy the same one twice by accident.

Since 1.0.3, all of this works at every garage, not only the one where you bought the vehicle. If you build a second base far from the first, a garage there gives you your whole fleet without a second purchase. Our beginner tips cover when a garage and a first vehicle are worth saving for.

Demolishing a Garage Does Not Refund Your Vehicles

Tearing down a garage is not a way to cash out its vehicles. Before patch 1.0.3, demolishing a garage deleted the vehicles kept there. The patch fixed it: “Demolishing a garage no longer deletes the vehicles kept there. They move to another garage, or wait for the next garage you build.” Your vehicles survive, but you get no money for them.

Where refunds do apply is the base itself. The version 1.0.5 patch notes changed removal so that “removing a piece now gives back its whole price instead of 75%.” That covers the pieces you build with the building tool, such as belts, foundations and machines, but the patch notes say nothing about vehicles.

If you only want a garage in a different spot, 1.0.5 also added Move Mode: press R with the building tool to pick up a piece together with everything standing on it and place it again for free. Right-click puts it back, X switches to remove mode, and R or Esc ends move mode. On a controller, press Y from remove mode.

Vehicles in Co-op and Public Lobbies

Moon Sweepers supports online co-op lobbies of up to 16 players, and vehicles are shared in practice: patch 1.0.3 removed the message that appeared “when a crewmate takes yours,” so crewmates can drive the vehicles you own. Upgrades are shared too, since 1.0.3: “the whole crew uses the host’s upgrade matrix, and anyone’s purchase upgrades everyone.”

That matters in public lobbies, because a vehicle someone else buys cannot be sold back either. The host’s tools are in the ESC menu under Your Crew, where the host can kick or ban a player, and since 1.0.5 starting a public game first warns you “what other players can do to your Moon and how to kick or ban them.” If you want control over spending, play with friends rather than in a public lobby.

Will Selling Vehicles Be Added?

DragDrop Games has not announced a way to sell vehicles. Its October 30 post plans Update 1.1 for December 2026, the game’s first major content update, with new production machines, new materials and products, more tools and upgrades, better automation, better buildings, expanded progression and performance work. Selling vehicles is not on that list, and the developers add that “everything mentioned above is still in development and may change before release.”

The two-person team says it reads feedback every day, so the game’s official Steam forum is the place to ask for it. We will update this guide if a patch adds vehicle selling.

Before You Buy a Vehicle

Because the money is gone for good, a few checks help:

  • Know where the dust goes. The store page pitches vehicles as how your operation grows, but their dust still has to reach a sale. Since 1.0.5, a garage whose silo is not sending dust out tells you why, for example “Connect a conveyor belt to its outfeed,” and our best factory layout guide uses that outfeed as a dust source.
  • Keep hand tools useful. Before you own a garage, a Packager is how hand-tool dust gets onto belts.
  • Set the camera. Patch 1.0.5 added “Vehicle camera follows behind” under Settings > Controls. Turn it off if you prefer the camera to stay where you point it instead of re-centering behind the vehicle.

Unofficial PC mods change vehicles in several ways, as our mods guide explains, but none of that is supported by the developers. If you are wondering about other platforms, our guide to whether Moon Sweepers is on PS5, Xbox, or Switch covers it, our patch 1.0.4 story covers the robot fixes, and every guide for the game is on our Moon Sweepers hub.
