Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 on Switch 2: Price, Editions and Physical

Capcom’s Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 remakes are out now on Nintendo Switch 2. They launched on October 16, 2026 as three separate digital games: Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition ($39.99), Resident Evil 3 ($29.99) and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition ($49.99), each discounted on the Nintendo eShop until November 7. Physical versions follow on January 29, 2027, and none of the three is part of the Resident Evil Generation Pack, which is a different bundle of Requiem, Village and Resident Evil 7.

Capcom announced the dates in a September 10 press release, and its Resident Evil Switch 2 lineup page lists every edition. Below we cover exactly what each edition includes, the launch prices, the physical release, file sizes, what happens to your Cloud Version saves, and how all of this differs from the Generation Pack people keep searching for. Everything here is verified against Capcom’s announcement, Capcom’s lineup page and Nintendo’s eShop listings as of October 13, 2026, with prices and availability rechecked on October 16.

Updated October 16, 2026: All three games are out now on the Nintendo eShop, and Capcom’s lineup page marks each one “Available now.” The early adopter prices are live, $29.99 for Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, $19.79 for Resident Evil 3 and $39.99 for Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition, and Capcom says they run until November 7, 2026. Capcom has not announced a day-one patch or published resolution or frame rate targets for any of the three.

What Each Edition Includes

All three are single-player games that play in TV, tabletop and handheld mode, rated M by the ESRB. Here is what Capcom and Nintendo list in each.

Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition

The biggest package of the three, and the only one whose extras include a whole additional scenario. Nintendo’s Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition listing includes:

  • The Resident Evil 4 main game
  • Additional Scenario: Separate Ways, the Ada Wong campaign that runs alongside the main story
  • Extra Game: The Mercenaries
  • Leon and Ashley costumes (Casual and Romantic), Leon’s Hero and Villain costumes and filters, and Leon’s Sporty sunglasses
  • Two deluxe weapons, the Sentinel Nine and the Skull Shaker
  • The Original Ver. Soundtrack Swap, the Treasure Map: Expansion, the Gold and Classic attache cases, and Green Herb and Handgun Ammo charms

Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition

  • The Resident Evil 2 main game
  • Leon costumes: Arklay Sheriff, Noir and ’98
  • Claire costumes: Military, Noir, Elza Walker and ’98
  • Three deluxe weapons: the Samurai Edge Albert, Jill and Chris models
  • The Original Ver. Soundtrack Swap

Resident Evil 3

  • The Resident Evil 3 main game
  • Jill’s Classic costume and Carlos’s Classic Hair costume

One thing missing: Capcom’s lineup page states plainly, “Resident Evil Resistance not included.” The online multiplayer mode that shipped with Resident Evil 3 on other platforms does not come with the Switch 2 version.

Price and the Launch Discount

Each game has an early adopter discount on the eShop, and all three are on sale now. These are Nintendo’s US prices:

Game Regular price Launch price Capcom’s listed discount
Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition $39.99 $29.99 25% off
Resident Evil 3 $29.99 $19.79 33% off
Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition $49.99 $39.99 20% off
All three $119.97 $89.77

Capcom says the discount runs until November 7, 2026. Nintendo’s US listings end it at 11:59 PM Pacific on November 7, which is 2:59 AM Eastern on November 8. Capcom has not announced a bundle of the three, so you buy each one separately.

Physical Copies

Capcom’s press release lists a physical version of all three games on January 29, 2027, about three and a half months after the digital launch. What it does not say is whether those physical copies hold the full game on the card or are Game-Key Cards that download the game when inserted, and Capcom’s US lineup page does not mention the physical release at all. Until Capcom confirms the format, budget for the download either way. The earlier Generation Pack box is sold as Game-Key Cards, according to retailer listings, but Capcom has not said the January release will follow suit.

File Sizes and Features

Nintendo’s listings give these estimated download sizes:

  • Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition: 29.0 GB
  • Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition: 14.0 GB
  • Resident Evil 3: 13.0 GB

That is about 56 GB for all three, against the 256 GB of storage built into Switch 2. If you are short on space, the console takes microSD Express cards (our Switch 2 buying guide covers stock, bundles and price).

The listings also confirm Save Data Cloud support with a Nintendo Switch Online membership, HDR output on compatible TVs, and linear PCM surround sound. Capcom has not published resolution or frame rate targets for the three games, so we cannot say yet how they run in handheld versus docked play.

Cloud Version Owners: Your Saves Do Not Transfer

Resident Evil 2 and 3 were previously on the original Switch only as Cloud Versions, which stream from a server instead of running on the console. Those are still listed on the eShop, so check that you are buying the Nintendo Switch 2 edition and not the Cloud Version.

Capcom’s lineup page is clear on saves: “You cannot share or transfer saved data and Cloud Versions that use the Nintendo Switch version’s cloud services.” If you played either game through the cloud, you start over on Switch 2. Capcom has not announced an upgrade discount for Cloud Version owners. Square Enix took a similar native-versus-cloud route with its own series, which we explain in our Kingdom Hearts Collection on Switch 2 guide.

How This Differs From the Resident Evil Generation Pack

The Resident Evil Generation Pack is not these games. Nintendo’s eShop listing for the Generation Pack describes it as a “triple threat bundle” of:

  • Resident Evil Requiem, the newest mainline game
  • Resident Evil 7 biohazard Gold Edition, with Banned Footage Vol. 1 and 2, Not A Hero, End of Zoe and the Survival Pack
  • Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, with the Winters’ Expansion, the Street Wolf outfit, the Mr. Raccoon weapon charm, the Survival Resources Pack and the Trauma Pack

It needs 74.1 GB, according to that listing. All three of those games came to Switch 2 on February 27, 2026. Trade reports at the time said the digital bundle was sold on the eShop only until March 31, 2026, and retailers have also listed a boxed version. Capcom’s lineup page now also offers a separate Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition and Village Gold Edition bundle covering Ethan Winters’ story.

So if you want the Raccoon City outbreak and Leon’s rescue mission six years later, buy Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4. If you want Ethan Winters’ story plus Requiem, the newest game, with Grace Ashcroft and an older Leon, that is the Generation Pack. Requiem is one of our 20 best Switch 2 games of 2026 so far, and it tops our best horror games of 2026 list.

Which One to Start With

By story order, Resident Evil 2 and 3 cover the same September 1998 outbreak in Raccoon City, and Capcom’s own description calls Resident Evil 3 “the story of the beginning and end of the Raccoon City Incident,” so its events wrap around Resident Evil 2’s. Resident Evil 4 picks up “six years after the Raccoon City Incident,” with Leon now a US agent. Our guide to how old Leon is in every game lays out that timeline.

By value, Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition is the fullest package, since Separate Ways is a second campaign rather than a cosmetic pack. Resident Evil 3 is the cheapest at its launch price, but it is also the slimmest package, with two costumes and no Resistance. If you are deciding what else to play this month, our October 2026 release rankings put all three remakes in context.
