Tempest Rising‘s The Veti’s Wrath expansion is out now on Steam, per the developer’s launch announcement on September 29, 2026. The paid expansion adds the 11-mission Veti campaign, which the store page calls “the final chapter of Tempest Rising”. The Veti themselves are free for every owner to play in multiplayer, skirmish and custom games.
What’s Paid and What’s Free
- The Veti’s Wrath (paid): “the complete 11-mission Veti faction campaign”, at $19.99 / €19.99 / £17.49, with a limited-time 10% launch discount.
- The Veti faction (free): a free update adds the Veti to multiplayer, skirmish and custom games for everyone who owns the base game. The faction brings 9 structures, 7 vehicles, 6 infantry units, 5 air units, 5 specialists, 5 defensive structures, 5 support powers and 1 superweapon.
- Gold Edition (new): the base game plus the expansion, $54.99, with a 36% launch discount that brings it to $35.19.
The Launch Patch
The same-day update also changes the multiplayer game:
- A global superweapon timer, a Codex button in the pause menu, and a new Sandbox match type.
- Leaderboards reset “to start a new multiplayer season”.
- Balance changes, including anti-tank mines no longer dealing friendly fire, the Dynasty Excavator Platform generating 2,000 credits per minute, and the GDF Drone Strike Station now costing 3,700 credits and 45 Intel.
What This Means for Players
If you only play multiplayer, you don’t need to buy anything: the Veti are yours with the free update, and the ladder reset puts everyone back at the start. The campaign is the paid part, and it wraps up the story.
