Toy Story Retro Roundup: Every Game Included

Toy Story: Retro Roundup! includes Toy Story (1995), Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue! (1999), Toy Story 2 (1999), Buzz Lightyear of Star Command (2000), Toy Story Racer (2001) and A Bug’s Life (1998), spread across 11 versions from the Sega Genesis, SNES, Game Boy, PlayStation and Game Boy Color. Toy Story 3 is not in it: Toy Story 3 Complete Edition is a separate release that launches the same day, October 15, 2026, and is also sold with Retro Roundup in a Double Pack.

Below is every version Digital Eclipse lists, why the box says five games when you can count six names, what the studio added on top, and the prices and platforms for each way to buy.

Every Game and Version in Retro Roundup

Developer Digital Eclipse published the exact lineup on its official page for the collection:

Game Year Versions included
Toy Story 1995 Sega Genesis, SNES, Game Boy
Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue! 1999 PlayStation
Toy Story 2 1999 Game Boy Color
Buzz Lightyear of Star Command 2000 PlayStation, Game Boy Color
Toy Story Racer 2001 PlayStation, Game Boy Color
A Bug’s Life 1998 PlayStation, Game Boy Color

That adds up to 11 playable versions. The original Toy Story is the only game with three, covering both 16-bit consoles and the original Game Boy. Every other game pairs a PlayStation release with a Game Boy Color one, except Toy Story 2, where the two 1999 releases are different games with slightly different names.

Why It Says Five Games but Lists Six

Atari and Digital Eclipse describe Retro Roundup as a “five-game collection” with “console and handheld versions of four early Toy Story titles, as well as A Bug’s Life.” The four Toy Story titles they count are Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command and Toy Story Racer.

The console Toy Story 2 (Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue! on PlayStation) and the Game Boy Color Toy Story 2 are counted as two versions of one title, even though the store text names them separately. So whether you count five games, six titles or 11 versions, you are looking at the same collection.

What Digital Eclipse Added

Digital Eclipse has built its reputation on collections that treat old games as history, and the official feature list follows that pattern:

  • Rewind. Hold a button and scrub back to before you missed a jump or took too many hits.
  • Rex’s Cheat Codes. Toggle unlimited lives or invincibility, or unlock all characters or levels.
  • How to Play and Practice Mode. Expanded instructions for each game, plus a mode to practice before a real run.
  • Behind-the-scenes interviews. New interviews with Jason Katz (Head of Story, Pixar), Jim Hanks (voice actor), Luigi Priore (VP and GM, Disney and Pixar Games) and Jon Burton (founder, TT Games).
  • A virtual museum. Rare design documents, vintage development photos and other archival material.
  • A Music Player. The complete soundtrack of every game in the collection.

Store listings also show local play for two: Xbox’s store lists local multiplayer for two players on a shared screen, and Steam tags shared and split-screen versus play. Neither listing says which games in the set support it.

Toy Story 3 Complete Edition Is Separate

Toy Story 3 Complete Edition is a remaster of the 3D game based on the 2010 film, and it is a different product from Retro Roundup. You can buy it on its own or in the Double Pack.

  • Story Mode follows moments from the movie, including the train rescue, Operation Playtime and the junkyard, swapping between Woody, Buzz and Jessie and their different abilities.
  • Toy Box Mode is the open sandbox set in Woody’s Roundup, where townsfolk hand out quests for gold that you spend customizing the town.
  • The “Complete” part: Atari says it adds content “previously restricted to certain versions of the game”, including playing as Emperor Zurg in Toy Box Mode and four additional Theme Packs, plus upgraded graphics, resolution and frame rate.
  • Co-op: local two-player co-op in both Story Mode and Toy Box Mode.

Release Date, Platforms and Price

Both games release on October 15, 2026, published by Atari:

  • Platforms: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. Xbox lists both games with Smart Delivery.
  • Digital prices (US): Nintendo’s eShop lists Retro Roundup at $29.99 and Toy Story 3 Complete Edition at $19.99, and Atari’s own store also lists Retro Roundup at $29.99.
  • Switch versus Switch 2: each game has separate Switch and Switch 2 listings on Nintendo’s store, at the same price.
  • Physical Double Pack: Atari’s US store sells a boxed Toy Story: Retro Roundup! + Toy Story 3 Complete Edition Double Pack for $39.99 on Switch, PS5 and PS4, and $49.99 on Switch 2. There is no Xbox disc; Xbox gets a digital Double Pack bundle instead.

Tips Before You Start

  • Pick the version by era. If you grew up with a Genesis or SNES, start with those versions of Toy Story; if you had a Game Boy Color, the handheld versions of the later games are the ones you will recognize.
  • Hand Rex’s Cheat Codes to younger players. Unlimited lives and invincibility make 1990s difficulty manageable for kids who are new to these games.
  • Use Practice Mode before a real run of the harder platforming stages, and lean on Rewind for the rest.
  • Save the extras for later. The interviews and museum add context once you have played the games they cover.
