Ubisoft told staff on October 14, 2026 that it proposes to close RedLynx, the Helsinki studio that created the Trials series, with up to 52 jobs at risk, and that 70 positions at Ubisoft Singapore, the lead studio on Skull and Bones, “have been impacted.” The company confirmed both moves in a statement first reported by GamesIndustry.biz.
The Details
“Today, we informed our teams of a proposal to close RedLynx in Finland, subject to the local change negotiation process, which would affect up to 52 positions,” Ubisoft said. Change negotiations are the consultation Finnish law requires before job cuts, so the closure stays a proposal until those talks end.
On Singapore, the statement reads: “70 positions have been impacted to align the studio with upcoming production needs. The studio remains an important part of Ubisoft’s global production organization.” Ubisoft added that it is “committed to supporting our teams throughout this process.”
Ubisoft bought RedLynx in 2011, and the studio’s last full release was Trials Rising, on February 26, 2019. It already lost staff in October 2025, when the studio said it would refocus on mobile games.
Ubisoft Singapore opened in 2008. It led Skull and Bones, which launched in 2024, and Ubisoft’s own press release for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced describes the remake as “Led by Ubisoft Singapore.” Black Flag Resynced came out on July 9, 2026.
What This Means for Players
If the RedLynx closure goes through, Trials loses the studio that created it, and no new Trials game has been announced since 2019. Ubisoft’s statement does not mention the existing Trials games or their online features, and nothing has been announced about delistings or server changes.
Skull and Bones players have the bigger open question. Ubisoft has not said whether the Singapore cuts change the game’s Year 3 roadmap, Sails of Power, which it laid out in May as four seasons of new ships, gear and endgame challenges. Its wording, cutting staff to fit “upcoming production needs” while calling the studio “important,” points to a smaller team that keeps working rather than a shutdown.
Black Flag Resynced is already out, and the statement names no change to it. Our guides to repairing your ship and using Eagle Vision still apply, and our Assassin’s Creed Shadows guides cover the series’ other recent release.
