Usual June, the supernatural third-person action adventure from Finji, will launch on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC as well as Steam on January 20, 2027, Finji announced on October 16, 2026 with a new trailer from The MIX. Until now, Finji’s trailers and the game’s site pointed players only to Steam.

The Details

The trailer’s description puts it plainly: “Usual June is launching on XBOX Series X|S and XBOX on PC, along with PC on January 20, 2027.” About twenty minutes later, Finji posted a short whose title lists the PC storefronts too: “Steam, Xbox, GOG, Humble, and Itchio.”

The date itself is not new. Finji moved Usual June from October 28 to January 20, 2027 in a Steam update on October 12, so Xbox players are joining a launch that was already set. What Finji has not announced is a price, and its announcement does not mention Game Pass, so do not assume it is included.

Per the game’s official site, Usual June follows June, a college student in the city of Fen Harbor who can see and talk to ghosts, while crystal creatures invade and the city’s ghosts start vanishing. Finji describes it as “a third-person action-adventure game about combat, cupcakes, and community”:

  • Combat built on melee combos, dodges, parries, dashes and super moves, where successful dodges refill June’s super meter.
  • Leveling that unlocks projectiles, defenses, summons and traps, with Finji warning that “her new powers come with a cost.”
  • 20 locations and over 25 characters, from secret labs to haunted observatories.

Story is by David Pinckney and Cara Ellison, with music by Adam Hay. Finji developed Overland and published Night in the Woods and TUNIC.

What This Means for Players

If you play on Xbox, you no longer need a PC for this one, and Xbox on PC adds another storefront for Windows players. PC players can decide early: Steam lists a free demo you can play now.

January is a long wait, so our best Xbox games of 2026 covers what to play in the meantime. If ghosts and small-town mysteries are what pulled you in, our best cozy spooky games list has more in that vein, and our upcoming game releases calendar tracks everything else on the way.
