Spookality 2026 is live in VRChat, the team announced in a Steam post on October 16, 2026. It opens a new hub world, Camp Whispering Screams, and a month of Halloween events and rewards that runs into November. Spookality is VRChat’s creator jam for horror-themed worlds and avatars, and this year’s winners are now featured in the game.
The Details
The winners. The jam’s winning worlds and avatars are in the new Spookality Hub, Camp Whispering Screams, and in featured world and avatar rows in VRChat. The rows stay up until November 2 at 2 PM PT (5 PM EST).
Events, in Eastern time:
- October 24, 3 PM EDT (noon PT): a Twitch ceremony showing the top three worlds and avatars.
- October 31, 8 PM EDT (5 PM PT): a DJ event in VRChat at Camp Whispering Screams, with four DJs “and maybe a special guest.”
Link your VRChat account and watch on Twitch on either of those days to get a Twitch Drop. Attending the DJ event in VRChat earns a separate reward.
Rewards you can earn:
- Camp hats: VRChat says visitors to the Camp Whispering Screams world on four dates receive camp-themed hats. The dates are October 16, 23, 30 and 31.
- Referrals: refer one friend and you both get a special water bottle. Refer three and you get a Profile Decoration set featuring a spooky VRRat.
- The Hype Train: VRC+ gifts dropped in the featured Spookality worlds or the hub now complete the train with 5 drops, down from 50. Gifting at least one VRC+ earns a Rucksack Avatar Accessory, and completing the train earns a Ghost Companion.
- The Shop: Camp Whispering Screams themed items are in the VRChat Shop until December 18.
What This Means for Players
The hat days are the dates to plan around. October 16 has passed, so the remaining days are October 23, 30 and 31. For the Twitch Drop, one broadcast is enough: Saturday the 24th or Halloween night.
