To reset your talents in World of Warcraft: Forever, visit your class trainer in one of the major cities, choose the option to unlearn your talents, and pay the fee; every point comes back for you to spend again. Blizzard’s class deep dives say the same trainer also resets your Legacy talents, and that Dual Specialization unlocks at level 40 if you want two builds without paying each time.
This guide covers where to go, how the respec fee works (including what changed during the beta), how Legacy talents reset, and the beta problems players ran into. It is verified against Blizzard’s class deep dives and beta development notes as of October 25, ahead of the November 4 launch.
How Talents Work in WoW Forever
Blizzard’s Hunter and Druid deep dive sets out the rules that apply to every class:
- Talents start at level 10. The trees keep the original structure and number of rows.
- Milestone talents sit at 11, 21 and 31 points, plus a new 16-point milestone.
- “To change your talents (including Legacy talents), you’ll need to visit a class trainer in one of the major cities.”
- Dual Specialization becomes available at level 40.
The same lines appear in the Priest and Warrior deep dive, along with Blizzard’s reminder that “class abilities and talents may continue to evolve,” so a build that is strong today may be worth rethinking after launch patches.
Step by Step: How to Reset Your Talents
- Reach level 10. You need talent points to reset. One beta player reported that a level 9 character’s trainer did not offer the option at all.
- Travel to a major city. Go to the class trainer for your class in a capital such as Stormwind, Ironforge, Orgrimmar or Undercity. Blizzard specifies a trainer “in one of the major cities,” and beta players found that at least some trainers outside the cities could teach spells but not reset talents.
- Talk to the trainer. Beta players describe a reset talents option alongside the usual training list.
- Confirm the fee. The trainer charges gold or silver depending on how recently you reset (see below).
- Spend your points again. Open your talent window and rebuild. Your Legacy talents can be reset at the same visit.
Druids, note this. Beta players reported that the Druid trainers in Moonglade could teach spells but could not reset talents, so Horde Druids had to go to Thunder Bluff. Plan your trip before you respec.
How Much a Talent Reset Costs
Blizzard has not published WoW Forever’s launch respec prices. What its beta notes do confirm is how the fee behaves:
- On September 24, Blizzard’s beta development notes said: “If you have not recently changed your talents, the cost is now 1 silver to re-spec. This is temporary for the Beta only.”
- The same note explains the pattern behind it: “After your first talent reset, the subsequent cost will be much higher, but it will drop to 1 silver after 1 hour has passed.”
So the fee climbs when you reset repeatedly and falls back when you leave it alone. Before that beta change, players on Blizzard’s forums reported paying 1 gold for a first reset and 5 gold for a second, with one thread listing 1, 5 and 10 gold, which matches how respecs worked in the original game. Expect launch prices to look more like that than like the beta’s 1 silver, and budget for it while leveling.
How to Reset Legacy Talents
Legacy talents are the account-wide perks you buy with Legacy Points, opened with the Legacy icon or the Y key, per Blizzard’s Legacy system overview. They reset at your class trainer too.
Blizzard’s October 8 beta notes made the cheapest Legacy reset 1 silver for the beta, with “the cost to re-spec” falling by one step per hour, and said this is “similar to how re-spec costs work for class talents and only applies during the Beta.” Before that, beta players reported paying 10 gold to reset Legacy points.
Two beta reports are worth knowing:
- Players found that the reset control inside the Legacy window threw an error, while resetting at the class trainer worked.
- Players who bought the Talented Legacy perk, which per Blizzard lets you “unlock talent points up to 5 levels lower than normal,” said they had to reset their class talents too when changing Legacy talents.
Dual Specialization: Skip the Fees
Dual Specialization unlocks at level 40 and lets you keep two talent builds, typically a damage build for questing and a tank or healer build for dungeons. Blizzard has not published its cost or exactly where you learn it. Beta players asked for it earlier, at 20 to 30, but Blizzard’s posts still say level 40.

Tips Before You Respec
- Plan the build first. Every reset costs money once launch pricing applies, so decide on a build before the trip.
- Wait out the fee. If the fee climbs after back-to-back resets, waiting lets it drop again.
- Respec before dungeons, not during. Trainers are only in major cities, so reset before you travel out.
- Do not count on the beta price. Blizzard tied the 1 silver reset to the beta, so do not plan around it.
