The first setting to open in Marvel’s Wolverine is not the graphics mode. It is Settings, Gameplay, where Enemy Health, Enemy Damage and Enemy Stealth Awareness can be tuned independently of the difficulty preset. That lets you keep combat demanding while making the divisive stealth sections less punishing.
Graphics Modes
On PS5 there are two: Fidelity, targeting 30fps at higher internal resolution, and Performance, targeting 60fps at a lower one.
On PS5 Pro you additionally get Pro variants of both plus Advanced Ray Tracing, and reviewers note the Pro can run ray tracing in Performance as well as Fidelity, at a small frame cost.
120Hz Display Mode and VRR are both available. If you have a compatible display, enabling them smooths out both modes considerably.
Most players should take Performance. This is a parry-timing game, and the input clarity of 60fps is worth more than the resolution.
Comfort and Clarity
These are all present and worth a pass:
- Motion Blur, Film Grain, Depth of Field, Chromatic Aberration, Full Screen Effects and Camera Shake can each be reduced or disabled.
- Center Dot can be enabled with adjustable size, colour and opacity, which helps if you lose track of Logan in busy fights.
- HDR and Image Calibration for brightness and contrast.
Control Feel
Several options change how the game plays rather than how it looks:
- Dodge Mode: Default, Single Tap, Continuous Hold, or Toggle.
- Sprint Mode: Hold, Toggle Hold, Toggle Release, or Auto.
- Melee Mode: Single, Combo, or Continuous.
- Special Techniques Mode: Hold or Toggle.
- Full controller remapping and adaptive trigger force adjustment.
Lock-On can be set to Off, On-Screen, or All, which matters more than it sounds in crowded fights.
Violence Options
Unusually, the violence is granular. Dismemberment, Visceral Damage and Dynamic Blood are each separate toggles, so you can keep the combat and lose the severed limbs.
Assists Worth Knowing About
Chase Assist, Navigation Assist, Traversal Assist, Mission Waypoint, puzzle skip and QTE Autocomplete all exist. QTE Autocomplete is the notable one, because it passes the Last Stand prompt for you.
Audio has 3D Audio, Mono Audio, Midnight Mode for dynamic range compression, Voice Boost, and a Streaming Mode that mutes licensed music. There is also a Vibration Mode with an “Experiential” option.
There is a genuinely thoughtful touch here: a set of accessibility settings can be assigned to D-Pad quick toggles, changeable without pausing. Our accessibility guide covers the wider feature set, which is unusually deep.
Frequently Asked Questions
Performance or Fidelity?
Performance for most players. Parry timing benefits more from 60fps than from resolution.
Can I make only the stealth sections easier?
Yes. Enemy Stealth Awareness is its own slider, separate from enemy health and damage.
Can I turn off the gore?
Yes. Dismemberment, Visceral Damage and Dynamic Blood are separate toggles.
Does the PS5 Pro version get ray tracing at 60fps?
Reviewers report Advanced Ray Tracing working in Performance Pro mode at a small frame cost, unlike the base PS5.
