To WooHoo in The Sims 3, two Young Adult or older Sims need a romantic relationship (Romantic Interest, partners or spouses) and a decent mood: then have both Relax on the same double bed, click the partner, and choose WooHoo. The base game gives you the bed and some rabbit holes; expansions and store items add many more places. Below we cover the relationship you need, the two ways to start it, every other location with the pack that adds it, Try for Baby, and who cannot WooHoo.
The Relationship You Need
WooHoo is a romantic social, so friendship alone does not unlock it. Build romance with the Romantic socials: flirt first, then escalate to kissing and making out as the other Sim responds well. A first kiss turns the Sims into Romantic Interests, and from there the relationship can become going steady, engaged or married. Our guides to asking someone to be your girlfriend or boyfriend and getting married cover those steps.
Once the relationship bar is high and the Sims are romantically involved, WooHoo appears in the Romantic socials. Mood still matters: a Sim who is tired, hungry, uncomfortable or upset is more likely to reject a romantic social, and a rejection sets the relationship back. Traits help too; Flirty, Hopeless Romantic and Great Kisser Sims have an easier time with romance.
How to Start WooHoo
There are two routes.
Bed method. Click a double bed with the first Sim and choose Relax. Do the same with the second Sim on the same bed. With both lying down, click the partner and choose WooHoo (or Try for Baby) from the Romantic options.
Social menu. Click the partner while they are nearby and open the Romantic socials. If WooHoo is available, choosing it sends both Sims to a suitable spot, usually a bed on the lot.
Other objects work differently: most of them add a WooHoo with… interaction on the object itself. Click it, pick the partner from the list, and both Sims head there.
Every Other Location and the Pack It Needs
Per the community wiki’s location list (EA’s own pack pages do not itemize WooHoo spots, so treat this as player documentation):
- Base game: double beds, and some rabbit holes (such as the theater, science lab or military base) once your Sim has taken a tour inside.
- World Adventures: tents and the sarcophagus in tombs.
- Ambitions: the time machine.
- Late Night: the hot tub, the elevator and the actor’s trailer. Late Night also recognizes a public WooHoo, done away from home, which gives the Sims the Stride of Pride moodlet.
- Generations: the shower and the treehouse.
- Pets: the haystack.
- Showtime: the photo booth, the Box of Mystery and the hot tub.
- Supernatural: the magic wardrobe, the fairy house and the Gypsy Wagon.
- Seasons: the igloo, leaf piles and the hot tub.
- University Life: the Murphy bed and the photo booth.
- Island Paradise: tents, the hot tub, the all-in-one bathroom, underwater caves and resort buildings. Our scuba diving guide covers reaching those caves.
- Into the Future: the jetpack, the bot workshop, the ZEPHYR stop, the hot tub, the magic wardrobe and the all-in-one bathroom.
- Stuff packs and store items: the hot tub from Outdoor Living Stuff, the all-in-one bathroom from Master Suite Stuff, and store objects such as a sauna, a hot air balloon and a restorable junk car.
WooHoo Versus Try for Baby
Plain WooHoo never causes pregnancy. Try for Baby sits next to it on beds and many objects, and has a chance to conceive; a lullaby-style chime after the interaction signals success. It needs a female Young Adult or Adult and a male partner; Elder women cannot conceive, and same-sex couples WooHoo but must adopt. See our adoption guide for that route, and our twins guide for ways to raise the odds of more than one baby.
The community wiki also notes that trying for a baby in a shower makes the Hydrophobic trait more likely for the resulting child.
Who Cannot WooHoo
- Teens, children and younger. Teens can date, kiss and make out, but WooHoo and Try for Baby are Young Adult and older only in an unmodded game.
- Sims without a romantic relationship. Friends and acquaintances will not see the option.
- Close relatives. The game blocks romance between family members.
If WooHoo is missing between two eligible Sims, raise the relationship further, check both moods, and make sure both are on the same bed. For moving in together afterward, see our guide to asking a Sim to move in.

Which pack adds hot tub WooHoo? Several do: Late Night, Outdoor Living Stuff, Showtime, Seasons, Island Paradise and Into the Future all include a hot tub.
How do I know Try for Baby worked? A lullaby-style chime plays after the interaction. Pregnancy symptoms such as nausea show up over the following hours.
