You cannot change an existing character’s class in AION 2: NC has not released a class change item in either the global or the Korean version, so switching class means creating a new character. Changing server is only possible through NC’s paid Server Transfer service, which the Korean version has sold in limited-time windows and which NC has promised, but not yet scheduled, for the global version.
This guide covers the global release (Founder’s early access September 30, 2026, launch October 5) and uses the Korean and Taiwanese version, live since November 2025, as the reference for how NC handles transfers. It also covers faction changes and what carries over between characters.
Changing Class: Start a New Character
There is no class change ticket, NPC or service in AION 2 today. In Korea, development producer Kim Nam-jun said on a February 2026 livestream that the team had begun developing a class change ticket but would gather player opinion before deciding whether to release it, according to Korean outlet Game Chosun. Korean players were split, and NC’s newsroom has not announced one since.
The clearest sign of NC’s approach came when Korea added a ninth class, the Brawler, on July 1, 2026. Instead of letting players convert, NC’s Chapter 1 announcement gave every player “one free character slot” to try it.
Some guide sites describe an NPC that swaps your class for free around level 10. Nothing in NC’s announcements supports that, so plan as if your class is permanent. The global launch has eight classes (Gladiator, Templar, Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric and Chanter), so settle it with our class overview and best class guide before you commit.
What Carries Over to a New Character
A second character is less painful than you might expect, because AION 2 shares a lot at the server level. These rules come from NC’s Korean-version updates; NC has not published global patch notes yet.
- Cosmetics: since Season 2, owned skins in the Closet are shared by every character on the same server, and NC later extended that to Special-grade costumes and pets.
- Pets: per NC’s Season 2 roadmap, Genus Insight and pet ownership are shared server-wide, and pet levels are aggregated across your characters.
- Membership: for the global version, NC’s membership notice says benefits “apply to all characters on the server where the membership was purchased” and not to other servers.
- Founder’s Pack items: NC’s global support FAQ defines three kinds of binding. Character-bound items cannot be shared. Class-bound items can be shared “only with other characters of the same class.” Server-bound items are shared with every character on that server.
The practical takeaway: an alt on the same server keeps your wardrobe and pets, while an alt on a different server starts from scratch. And NC’s FAQ says unclaimed Founder’s items can still be claimed “on any server after Early Access ends,” so if you are unsure about your main, there is no rush to claim class-bound items. Changing Server in the Global Version
There is no transfer service in the global version yet. NC’s Early Access: How It Will Work update says the team is “committed to enabling the AION 2 Server Transfer Service,” will evaluate server occupancy after early access and launch, and will share details “in a dedicated announcement in the near future.”
How servers open matters for your first pick:
- Early Access Servers open September 30 and are initially limited to Founder’s Pack owners.
- Launch Servers open October 5 as a second wave. Free players can also join Early Access servers “if those servers remain open and available at launch.”
If you end up on a different server from your friends, NC says “you can always party up for dungeons and add each other as friends,” because dungeon party matching spans every server in your region. How Server Transfers Worked in Korea
NC’s Korean server transfer notice (in Korean) is the best preview of what global players can expect. Korea has not had an always-open service: transfers were sold in two week-long windows, July 22 to 28 and, per the August 26 update notes, August 26 to September 1, 2026, each from 8 PM to midnight daily under Shop and then Server Transfer. The tab was removed from the shop again on September 2. Both windows used the same terms:
- Cost: 1,000 Quna base, plus 200 Quna per character moved, plus 1,000 Quna per extra character slot needed on the destination server.
- Limits: once per account, from one server to one server, and only to a server of the same faction.
- Requirements: characters had to be level 45 or higher, standing in a town, not in a Legion or applying to one, with no active mission and nothing unclaimed in the Market, shop storage or mailbox.
- What moved: the character, skills and Stigma, Arcana, wings, Daevanion, Kina in the character’s inventory and character storage, Quna, titles, the Closet and pets.
- What stayed: items in server storage. Names reset to a temporary name, and you pick a new one on first login.
Transfers could not be cancelled or reversed, and NC capped how many characters could leave or enter each server. Global prices and rules have not been announced.
Changing Faction
Elyos and Asmodians play on separate servers in AION 2, and the Korean transfer only allowed moves within the same faction. Coverage of NC’s July 2026 livestream reported that there were no plans for faction transfers. Switching faction therefore means a new character on a server of the other faction.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you change class in AION 2? No. There is no class change item in the global or Korean version as of September 2026. To play another class, create a new character, ideally on the same server so your cosmetics and pets carry over.
