Transport Fever 3: Whether It Has Multiplayer

No. Transport Fever 3 is a single-player game with no co-op or competitive mode, and on September 12, 2026, developer Urban Games told players: “We have no plans to add multiplayer to Transport Fever 3.”

Below we cover exactly what the studio has said, what each store listing shows, how that fits the series’ history, the ways you can still share your work with other players, and whether multiplayer could ever arrive. This guide covers the launch release (September 29, 2026) as Urban Games and the store pages describe it; we will update it if the studio’s position changes.

What Urban Games Has Said

There are two official statements, and they point the same way.

The first is in the official FAQ, under “Is there a multiplayer in Transport Fever 3?”:

“The goal has been to make Transport Fever 3 the best single player experience possible. Until that has been accomplished, it would be the wrong time to shift focus and split resources in order to introduce multiplayer in either a co-operative or competitive fashion.”

The second came on September 12, when a player asked about multiplayer under the studio’s Tycoon Gameplay Overview post. Community manager Sam Bennett replied: “We have no plans to add multiplayer to Transport Fever 3,” adding that the aim remains making the best single-player experience the studio can.

Read together, the FAQ explains the reasoning (every resource goes into the single-player game) and the later reply closes the question for now. The FAQ’s “until that has been accomplished” is the only hint that the door is not locked forever, and no roadmap or post-launch plan mentions multiplayer.

What the Store Listings Show

Every storefront agrees with the studio:

Store What it lists
Steam Single-player, Steam Achievements, full controller support, level editor
PlayStation Store 1 player, offline play enabled, Remote Play supported
Microsoft Store (Xbox) Single player
GOG Single-player

One detail can confuse people: the PlayStation Store’s ESRB rating block shows a “Users Interact” notice. That is not a multiplayer mode. ESRB uses it for games where players can see content other users create or share, and the game’s official sharing feature is its Mod Hub. The same listing still says 1 player.

The Series Has Always Been Single-Player

This is not a cut feature. Urban Games has never shipped multiplayer: Train Fever (2014), Transport Fever (2016) and Transport Fever 2 (2019) are all listed as single-player only on Steam. Transport Fever 3 follows the same design, with three solo modes per the official press page: Campaign, Tycoon and Sandbox.

What has changed is the scale of the solo game. The official FAQ says the campaign has 8 missions, the Tycoon mode adds town reputation, pollution and a company progression system, and difficulty can be tuned per setting. Our release time guide covers where each mode fits for a first session.

What You Can Share With Other Players

You cannot build on the same map at the same time, but Urban Games has put real work into sharing:

  • One mod library on every platform. The in-game Mod Hub, built on mod.io, serves the same mods on PC, Mac, Linux, PS5 and Xbox. Per Urban Games’ Dev Blog Episode 5, an optimized console version of each mod is generated automatically on upload, so a PC creator’s work reaches console players too. Our platforms guide covers how the versions differ.
  • Maps. The store page describes a “fully featured in-game map editor” and says you can share your creations through the in-game mod browser.
  • Save games. The same dev blog says every mod now has a fixed, unique ID to “drastically reduce problems with mods in shared save games,” and missing mods are detected and listed during download. That makes swapping a save file with a friend far less fragile than before.
  • Outside the game. Urban Games says manual installation stays available, so communities can keep “distributing their mods and saves independently for PC and Mac.”

The Steam Workshop is not part of this: the FAQ says it would undermine the single cross-platform library, so it is not included.

Whether Multiplayer Could Come Later

Officially, no plans exist. Two points are worth knowing before you hope for a mod:

  • Urban Games has opened the game up more than ever. Dev Blog Episode 5 says almost the entire user interface and many features run on editable scripts, and it names “new game modes” among the things modders could build.
  • The studio has said nothing about networked play in mods, and no mod of any kind can be judged before the game and its full modding tools are public on September 29.

If multiplayer is a must, this is not the transport game for playing with friends. For co-op on console, our best PS5 co-op games of 2026 list is a better place to look. For everything else on this game, see the Transport Fever 3 hub.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Transport Fever 3 have multiplayer? No. It is single-player only, and Urban Games said on September 12, 2026, that it has no plans to add multiplayer.

Is Transport Fever 3 co-op? No. The official FAQ rules out both co-operative and competitive modes for now, and every store lists the game as single-player.

Will Transport Fever 3 get multiplayer in an update? Not according to current plans. The studio’s only hedge is the FAQ’s “until that has been accomplished,” referring to finishing the single-player game first.

Can you share saves and mods with friends? Yes. The cross-platform Mod Hub shares mods between PC, Mac, Linux, PS5 and Xbox, and fixed mod IDs are designed to make shared save games work more reliably.

Does Transport Fever 3 need an internet connection? The PS5 listing shows offline play enabled. Browsing and downloading from the online Mod Hub needs a connection.
