Grand Theft Auto VI comes in two editions: the Standard Edition at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99 in the US, on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Buy Standard if you just want the game or a boxed copy, since Ultimate is digital only; buy Ultimate if you want its bonus vehicles, weapons, outfits and five businesses that only open with it.
You don’t have to decide now: Microsoft already sells the Ultimate upgrade separately for $20, and Rockstar says PlayStation players can upgrade “at any time”.

Prices are the same on the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store and the Rockstar Store, so there’s no discount for going digital. The boxed Standard Edition contains a download code, not a disc; our guide to whether the physical version has a disc explains what that means.
What the Ultimate Edition Adds
Rockstar’s GTA VI page lists the Ultimate Edition content, and says the bonuses are “threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story, with new items uncovered behind each chapter”. In other words, you unlock them as you play, not all at once.
- Vehicles: a ’95 Grotti Cheetah, a Ganado Retro Build, a Shitzu Squalo boat with an explosives crate, a ’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy, and extra vehicles at Jason’s safehouse (a Dinka Enduro and a Crest Kayak).
- Weapons: the Hawk and Little Morgan revolvers, plus personalized pistols for each lead, a Girardi ES9 for Jason and a Klose K17 for Lucia.
- Style: Vice City Style outfits and tattoos, plus Goodtime Gear.
- A garage: the Paradise Garage in Watson Bay.
- Extra jobs: the PTT Youngin$ compound raid and a commission to collect Wyman’s Classic Car Collection.
- Five businesses that are “only open for business with the Ultimate Edition”: Rideout Customs, Sara’s Unisex Salon, the Stock 305 clothing store, the Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor (with more than 50 tattoos by the art duo FAILE) and One-Eyed Willie’s Mod Shop.

Both editions include the Vintage Vice City Pack if you buy before November 20, 2026: a ’55 Vapid Stanier with the Shore Court garage, vintage outfits and hairstyles, and a tropical weapon pattern. - Xbox: the Microsoft Store sells the Ultimate Edition Upgrade for $20.00 in the US right now, the exact price gap between the two editions.
- PlayStation: the Rockstar Store says “Upgrade to the Ultimate Edition on PlayStation Store at any time”. The upgrade isn’t on sale as a standalone PS Store item yet, so we can’t confirm its price.
Which One Should You Buy
- Buy Standard if you want the game at the lowest price, want a box on the shelf, or aren’t sure yet. You can upgrade later, and nothing in the Ultimate Edition is needed to finish the story.
- Buy Ultimate if you already know you’ll want the extra cars, the Paradise Garage and the five extra businesses. You pay the same $20 either way.
