Warhammer 40,000: Darktide‘s free Depths of the Damned update went live on September 29, 2026, at 14:00 CEST (8 AM EDT), bringing a new mission, a new boss and a three-mission story campaign. Fatshark rolled out Patch 1.13.0 on all platforms the same morning, with talent tree changes and a rethink of Golden Toughness.
What the Update Adds
- Terrors of the Deep, a story mini-campaign of three connected missions. The first two run in Consignment Yard and Enclavum Baross; the third is the new mission.
- Spillway, a new mission in the sewers beneath an ancient dam in the Torrent, where the Ragged King’s Water Cartel members have been going missing.
- The Prophet of Decay, a boss unique to Spillway that Fatshark describes as a “terrifyingly powerful Psyker of Nurgle”.
- New weapons: the Krourk Mk IIa Cruncher sledgehammer and Thugshot Lorenz Mk VII for Ogryns, a Gromm Mk I Battle Maul and Mk V Slab Shield mark for Ogryns, the Krourk Mk VII Crusher for Zealots and Arbites, the Huntsman’s Shotgun Accatran Mk III, and the Double-Barrelled Shotgun Krourk Mk IV.
The Balance Changes
The original four classes get reworked talent trees, with fewer stat nodes needed to finish a build, and Fatshark says it is sharpening what makes the Veteran and Zealot stand out. The Skitarius gets targeted adjustments, several melee weapons change (the Thunder Hammer most of all), and Golden Toughness, which Fatshark calls “one of the more disruptive mechanics in Darktide”, is being adjusted as part of a longer effort to rein in outliers in player power. On PC, the patch also adds AMD’s FSR Ray Regeneration as a denoiser option for ray-traced reflections.
What This Means for Players
Check your loadouts before your first mission. Fatshark warns that the tree layout changes can break talent connections or refund points from removed talents, although these are only partial resets. Builds leaning on Golden Toughness are the ones most likely to feel different.
There is also a reason to play the new campaign straight away: the Allies and Adversaries live event runs until October 13 and rewards Plasteel, Ordo Dockets, Diamantine and a new Insignia for clearing all of its missions.
