Blizzard is opening World of Warcraft: Forever to everyone for a stress test on Monday, October 19, 2026, starting at 2 PM PDT (5 PM EDT) in North America, it said in a news post on October 15. “Anyone can take part and no subscription, Game Time, invitation, or beta access is required.”
The Details
The test starts at a different moment in each region, in local time:
- North America: 2 PM PDT on October 19 (5 PM EDT).
- Europe: 19:00 CEST on October 19 (1 PM EDT), four hours before North America.
- Korea: 06:00 KST on October 20.
- Taiwan: 05:00 CST on October 20.
Blizzard has not given an end time. It calls the test “a limited time” and says “the test window may end earlier or run later as needed.” The regular beta goes offline shortly before the test begins and should return shortly after it ends.
To join, update your graphics drivers, open the Battle.net desktop app and select World of Warcraft. In the Game Version menu above the Play button, choose “World of Warcraft: Forever Stress Test” under In Development and install it. Once the test begins, press Play, pick a test realm and create a new character.
Nothing survives. “All created characters, names, and guilds will be wiped” at the end, Blizzard says, ahead of Early Name Reservation from October 27 to November 3. That window is only for buyers of the Skyborne Heroic Pack, Skyborne Epic Pack or Warcraft Forever Collection, and names go “first-come, first-served.”
What This Means for Players
This is the first time anyone without beta access can play Forever before launch, so it works as a free trial run. Blizzard wants full servers, so expect queues and instability rather than a polished preview.
Check your hardware first: Blizzard dropped support for older GPUs when the beta opened, as our WoW: Forever GPU story explains. Do not get attached to a character name, either, since the wipe frees every name before reservations open.
The test is also a chance to get a feel for Forever before you decide which ruleset to choose, and our rulesets and surnames story covers how Forever replaces realms. Blizzard calls October 21 the last full day of beta testing, which matches our guide to how long the WoW Forever beta is. After the November 4 launch, Forever comes with a subscription, so see what World of Warcraft costs each month. Everything else is on our World of Warcraft hub.
