Haunted by Daylight, the Halloween event in Dead by Daylight, started on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at 11 AM Eastern, and this year it plays out inside your normal trials instead of a separate Void Realm. Void Portals and roaming Void Haunts appear in every match, both sides collect Void Energy to spend on event abilities, and event quests pay a temporary currency, Dark Trinkets, that the community wiki says you trade for Halloween cosmetics.
The gameplay rules below come from Behaviour’s own 10.2.1 patch notes of October 14. Behaviour has not posted the event’s reward list or end date in writing, so for the costs, rewards and dates we lean on its October 1 October of Horror broadcast as reported by the trade press and on the community-run Dead by Daylight wiki, which documents the event’s in-game text, and we say so wherever we do.

What Changed This Year
The biggest change is that the Void is gone as a place. Behaviour’s patch notes say the Void Tile from previous years “is no longer accessible,” and in its place:
- Void Portals appear in every trial. They come in pairs and always send you back and forth between each other.
- Void Rifts can be opened to create new pairs of portals, which then stay open for the rest of the trial.
- Void Haunts roam the map freely, hunting down Survivors and leaving them Hindered.
- No more crafting. You no longer need to craft in the Void to earn event abilities. You collect Void Energy during the match and spend it as soon as you have enough.
The maps also get an orange haze and a more classic Halloween look, which is the first time an event has changed the map lighting and sky, according to the community wiki.
Void Energy and Event Abilities
Both sides fill the same kind of meter. Per the community wiki, you can hold up to 8 Void Energy at a time.
Survivors earn energy by repairing generators, stunning or blinding the Killer and smashing Void Pumpkins. Standing at a Void Portal gathers a lot of energy at once, but Behaviour warns that it lets the Killer teleport straight to that portal and jumpscare you. Every Survivor starts the trial with a Void Crystal, which does not take up your item slot, and can use it two ways:
- Smoke Bomb: release a large cloud of smoke that blocks vision. The wiki lists it at 4 energy.
- Remote repair: place the crystal on a generator to repair it from afar for 30 seconds. The wiki lists it at the full 8 energy, and says the crystal comes back when the repair finishes or the Killer destroys it.
Killers earn energy by downing and hooking Survivors, attacking roaming Void Haunts and smashing Void Pumpkins. Behaviour’s notes say Killers can launch Void Haunts and use Empowered Breaks to kick faster. Per the wiki:
- Captured Haunt (4 energy): fire a Haunt as a projectile that damages a Survivor, makes them scream and interrupts what they were doing.
- Teleport (4 energy): jump to a Survivor who is gathering energy at a portal.
- Empowered Breaks (1 energy): damage generators and break pallets and breakable walls 30% faster.
Event Quests, Dark Trinkets and Rewards
This year’s event runs on event quests rather than an Event Tome. Completing them pays Dark Trinkets, the temporary event currency, which you spend on the event’s cosmetics. Based on Behaviour’s October 1 broadcast as reported, and the wiki’s record of the in-game reward screens, the lineup includes:
- Skeleton Shirts for Survivors, for Adam Francis, Sable Ward and Jeff Johansen.
- Halloween Masks for Killers, for The Trapper, The Unknown and The Singularity.
- Outfits for Shane Wiigwaas and The Hillbilly, the top prizes for completing the full collection of event quests.
- Charms, badges and banners themed for the event.
Dark Trinkets are a temporary currency, so spend them before the event closes.
Free Login Rewards
The event also pays out just for logging in. Per the community wiki:
- Daily: 25,000 or 50,000 Bloodpoints, refreshing at 15:00 UTC (11 AM Eastern until clocks change on November 1, then 10 AM).
- First day: a bigger reward of 50,000 Bloodpoints and 125 Iridescent Shards.
- One time: 100 Dark Trinkets, claimable at any point during the event.
Rewards arrive as “Messages from The Fog” in your in-game inbox, the small button at the bottom left of the main menu, where you open each message and claim it. For even more Bloodpoints, our Dead by Daylight codes page lists every active code from Behaviour’s own posts.
Event Items in the Bloodweb
The wiki lists the returning Halloween items that show up in the Bloodweb during the event: the All Hallows’ Eve Lunchbox medkit, the Will O’ Wisp flashlight, the Arcane Dousing Rod offering, and the Broken Bulb, Refined Serum and Blight Serum add-ons. Like every event item, they are only around while Haunted by Daylight lasts.
The Rest of Behaviour’s Halloween Lineup
Haunted by Daylight is one part of a bigger month. Behaviour’s October of Horror video lists the Academia Rift, which launched with the 10.2.0 update on October 6 with college-themed outfits, plus a Blight collection, a Diablo Collection, a November Days Collection for Day of the Dead and the return of the Stranger Things Collection. Trade reports of the broadcast put the Diablo Collection on October 20. Those are store and Rift cosmetics rather than event rewards.
Tips for Both Sides
- Survivors: treat portals as a gamble. The energy payout is big, but the Killer can teleport straight to you. Use portals when the Killer is busy on the other side of the map or carrying someone.
- Survivors: save the crystal for the end. A full 8 energy on a remote repair is strongest when a generator is close to done and nobody can safely sit on it.
- Killers: punish portal use. The teleport costs the same as a Captured Haunt, but it lands you on a Survivor who is standing still.
- Killers: spend 1 energy on breaks often. Faster kicks on generators and pallets add up over a match, and it is the cheapest ability on either side.
When does it end? Behaviour’s broadcast described a three-week event, and trackers, including the community wiki, list November 3, 2026 as the final day. Behaviour had not posted an exact end time in writing as of October 19.
