Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 unlocks at 12 PM EDT (9 AM PDT) on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, which is 5 PM BST and 6 PM CEST, on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at the same moment. Developer Auroch Digital and publisher Big Fan Games, a Devolver Digital label, have only announced the date, but the Steam, PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store listings all carry the same unlock timestamp: 16:00 UTC.
Below we cover that unlock time in every major time zone, what Boltgun 2 costs on each store, the pre-order discounts that disappear at launch, the Steam bundle that saves owners of the first game a little more, and when the Nintendo Switch 2 version follows. Everything here comes from Auroch’s own posts and FAQ, the official press release and the store listings, checked on October 13.
What Time Boltgun 2 Unlocks in Every Time Zone
This is a single global unlock, not a midnight rollout by region. The 16:00 UTC timestamp appears on the Steam store page (whose countdown on the afternoon of October 13 read “approximately 22 hours”), on the PlayStation Store in the US, UK and Germany, and on the Microsoft Store in the US, UK, Germany and Japan. We converted it into local times ourselves:
| Region | Time zone | Unlock time |
|---|---|---|
| US West | PDT | Wed Oct 14, 9:00 AM |
| US Mountain | MDT | Wed Oct 14, 10:00 AM |
| US Central | CDT | Wed Oct 14, 11:00 AM |
| US East | EDT | Wed Oct 14, 12:00 PM (noon) |
| Brazil (Brasilia) | BRT | Wed Oct 14, 1:00 PM |
| United Kingdom | BST | Wed Oct 14, 5:00 PM |
| Central Europe | CEST | Wed Oct 14, 6:00 PM |
| India | IST | Wed Oct 14, 9:30 PM |
| China and Singapore | CST / SGT | Thu Oct 15, 12:00 AM (midnight) |
| Japan and Korea | JST / KST | Thu Oct 15, 1:00 AM |
| Sydney | AEDT | Thu Oct 15, 3:00 AM |
| New Zealand | NZDT | Thu Oct 15, 5:00 AM |
If you are in Japan, Korea, China or Australia, the game arrives in the early hours of Thursday, not on Wednesday. No edition plays early, either: every store sells one standard version, and none of them lists early access.
Where You Can Play It
Auroch’s official FAQ lists three launch platforms:
- PC through Steam. The store page lists Windows only, with no Mac or Linux build, but Auroch announced on October 8 that Valve has rated Boltgun 2 Steam Deck Verified.
- PlayStation 5. There is no PS4 version.
- Xbox Series X|S. The Microsoft Store listing is for the current-generation consoles only, so Xbox One owners are left out.
Boltgun 2 is a digital release only; the FAQ says no physical version is planned at the moment. It is also strictly single-player, with no co-op or multiplayer of any kind.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version is confirmed but not dated. Auroch’s FAQ says it launches “shortly after the other platforms,” and Auroch’s August 27 release date announcement on Steam promised only “more on that later.” As of October 13 there is no Switch 2 listing on Nintendo’s US eShop, so you cannot pre-order it yet.
What Boltgun 2 Costs on Each Store
It is a budget-priced game everywhere, with a standard price of $24.99 in the US and €24.99 in the eurozone on all three stores. UK prices differ by store.
| Store | US | UK | Eurozone | Pre-order deal |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Steam | $24.99 | £22.49 | €24.99 | 10% off for everyone ($22.49) until launch |
| PlayStation Store | $24.99 | £19.99 | €24.99 | 10% off for PlayStation Plus members ($22.49) |
| Microsoft Store | $24.99 | £20.99 | €24.99 | No discount listed |
On Steam, Canada pays CDN$29.99 and Australia pays A$34.99 before the discount. Both pre-order deals end at the 16:00 UTC unlock: Steam’s pre-purchase timer and the PlayStation Plus offer both run out at exactly that moment, so if you want the 10% off, buy before noon Eastern on October 14.
There are no deluxe editions, no season pass and no soundtrack bundle on any store as of October 13. Auroch has said composer Mick Gordon wrote the music for the final boss fight, but no standalone soundtrack has been listed for sale.
The Steam Bundle for Owners of the First Game
Steam also sells a Boltgun + Boltgun 2 bundle with an extra 10% bundle discount. It costs $42.28 for both games, or $40.03 while the pre-purchase promotion stacks on top.
The useful part is for people who already own the original. Steam bundles complete your set, so if the first Boltgun is already in your library, you pay only for Boltgun 2 at the bundle discount. Steam’s bundle pricing puts Boltgun 2 at $20.24 inside the bundle during pre-purchase, about two dollars less than buying it on its own. The bundle has its own Add to Cart button, just below the standard pre-purchase option on the store page.
How to Get It Ready Before Launch
Boltgun 2 is small by modern standards. The Steam store page asks for 13 GB of storage. Auroch and Big Fan have not announced a preload on any platform, so here is what to expect from each store:
- PS5 and Xbox Series X|S: pre-ordered games download in the background if automatic downloads are switched on, as soon as the store allows it. Microsoft’s store data puts the Xbox download at about 9.2 GB. For PS5, reports from download-size trackers say the pre-download opened on October 12 at a similar size; Sony does not show either detail on its public store page.
- Steam: if a preload is enabled, an Install button appears on Boltgun 2 in your library after you pre-purchase. If it is not, the download starts at unlock, and at 13 GB it should not take long.
A few more things worth doing before noon Eastern:
- Check your PC against Steam’s specs. The minimum is an Intel Core i5-8600K or AMD Ryzen 5 2600, 8 GB of RAM and a GeForce GTX 980, Radeon R9 Fury or Arc A580, on Windows 10 with DirectX 12 (aimed at 60 FPS at 1080p on Low). Recommended is an Intel Core i7-7700K or Ryzen 5 1500X with a GTX 1650 or RX 570, for 60 FPS at 1080p on High. Auroch’s FAQ still shows older, lower specs with DirectX 11 and 5 GB of storage, so go by the Steam page. If it runs badly, our Steam refund guide explains the two-hour window.
- Play the free demo. The Steam-exclusive demo has been live since May 21 and is still up. It covers two levels, a Nurgle-infested Death World swamp and a frozen Imperial facility, with both playable characters.
- Pick your hero carefully. Auroch says you choose either Ultramarine Malum Caedo (voiced by Rahul Kohli) or Sister of Battle Nyra Veyrath (voiced by Alanah Pearce) at the start and play that character for the entire campaign, so the demo is the best place to compare them.
Boltgun 2 is one of the launches in our biggest games of October 2026 list. If you want more Warhammer 40,000 action after the campaign, our Space Marine 2 guides cover the other big 40K shooter, and our upcoming releases calendar tracks everything launching next.
