Yes, you can play Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse on a Nintendo Switch 2, but there is no Switch 2 version: it is a Nintendo Switch game, and Nintendo’s eShop lists it as “Supported” on Switch 2, so it runs through the console’s backward compatibility. Konami’s spec sheet lists 30 fps for Switch and says nothing about Switch 2, although several outlets that ran the free demo on a Switch 2 report it reaching 60 fps.
Updated October 16, 2026: Belmont’s Curse is out now on every platform, including Nintendo Switch, so you can play it on Switch 2 today. Konami still has not addressed Switch 2 or confirmed a Switch 2 frame rate. On PC, Valve now rates the Steam version Playable on Steam Deck, and Konami has released a Steam update for a black screen some players hit at launch; our release time guide has the details.
Below is every platform Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is on, what is confirmed and what is only reported about the Switch 2 experience, the physical options for Nintendo players, and which version makes sense if you own more than one system.
Every Platform at a Glance
| Platform | Available | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | Yes | 60 fps per Konami; digital and physical |
| Xbox Series X|S | Yes | 4K and 60 fps listed on the Microsoft Store; digital and physical |
| Xbox on PC | Yes | Same Microsoft Store listing as the console, tagged Xbox Play Anywhere |
| PC (Steam) | Yes | Windows only, 10 GB, GTX 1650 minimum |
| Nintendo Switch | Yes | 30 fps per Konami; digital and physical |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | Through backward compatibility | Nintendo lists the Switch version as Supported |
| PS4 and Xbox One | No | Never announced |
| Mac and Linux | No | Steam lists Windows only |
| Game Pass | No | Not announced; sold as a standard purchase |
Every version launched on October 15, 2026, at $29.99 for the Standard Edition and $39.99 for the Midnight Edition on the US digital stores. Our release time guide has the unlock time for each store. Steam Deck owners should note that Valve now rates the game Playable on the Deck, flagging that some in-game text is small and may be hard to read, and Konami’s known issues notice says some UI elements may appear partially off-screen on the Deck while it works on a fix.
What Nintendo and Konami Say About Switch 2
Two official sources cover the question, and neither describes a dedicated Switch 2 release:
- Nintendo’s eShop listing. The Nintendo Switch store page carries Nintendo’s Switch 2 compatibility label, marked Supported, with the note that game behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch. In Nintendo’s terms, that means the Switch game works on a Switch 2.
- Konami’s spec sheet. The official product page lists the frame rate as “60 fps (Nintendo Switch: 30 fps)” and the minimum storage as 4 GB for the Standard Edition and 6 GB for the Midnight Edition on Switch. There is no Switch 2 line, no Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, and no paid upgrade.
Konami has not addressed Switch 2 in any announcement so far. Its June 8 release-date announcement covered PS5, Xbox and Steam and said the Switch date would come later, and its official site set the Switch launch for the same October 15 date on July 15.
How It Runs on Switch 2
This part comes from early reports rather than Konami. When the free demo went live on October 1, Nintendo Everything reported that it runs at 60 frames per second on a Switch 2, double the 30 fps Konami lists for Switch. GamesRadar and Nintendo Life repeated the finding; Nintendo Life’s writer said it “seems to be sitting at a smooth 60fps,” and GamesRadar added that the resolution is reportedly lower than you might want, which fits a Switch game running in backward compatibility rather than a native version. TheGamer adds that no settings change is needed to get the higher frame rate.
Konami has not confirmed the 60 fps figure, so treat it as reported, not official. The good news is that you can check it yourself for free. Download the Belmont’s Curse demo on your Switch 2 (it is 3 GB), play the opening chapter, and if you buy the Switch version afterwards, your demo save carries over on the same account.
GamesRadar also points out that Konami has done this before, updating Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 on Switch so it runs better on Switch 2. Konami has announced no such update for Belmont’s Curse.
Physical Copies for Switch and Switch 2
There is no Switch 2 physical edition. The physical option for Nintendo players is the Midnight Edition for Nintendo Switch, which Konami’s US site lists at Best Buy, Amazon, GameStop, Walmart and Target, alongside PS5 and Xbox copies. It is the same Nintendo Switch game as the digital release, so it plays on a Switch 2 through backward compatibility in the same way.
Two details matter for physical buyers. The Standard Edition is digital only, so a boxed copy always means the Midnight Edition. And Konami notes that on physical copies the pre-order bonus, the Alucard Style Costume, needs an additional download from the online store.
Which Version to Buy If You Own Several Systems
- PS5, Xbox Series X|S or a capable PC: the officially supported 60 fps versions. On Xbox, one Microsoft Store purchase covers both the console and Xbox on PC.
- Switch 2: the portable choice, with reported but unconfirmed 60 fps. Try the demo first.
- Original Switch: fully supported at Konami’s stated 30 fps, with the smallest install.
The game itself is the same everywhere: same story, same editions and the same bonuses. If you are deciding where to play, frame rate, portability and install size are the real differences between versions. For more on the console, see our list of the best Switch 2 games of 2026.
