Dynasty Warriors 3 Remastered keeps the 2001 game’s stages, stories and roster, rebuilds everything in Unreal Engine 5, and adds a short list of new systems: Evasion and Just Evasion, Perfect Power Guard, Weapon Fusion, new high-difficulty scenarios, and the guest officer Ziluan. It also folds in the full Xtreme Legends expansion. Every new feature can be switched off, one at a time or all at once with Classic Settings.
Below is the complete list for DYNASTY WARRIORS 3: Complete Edition Remastered, split into what Koei Tecmo has confirmed and what early players have noticed.
What Stayed the Same
Koei Tecmo’s pitch is a faithful remake: “All the fun of the original game, now with new moves and improved features.” The things that carry over:
- Every stage and Musou Mode story from Dynasty Warriors 3.
- All 41 original officers, with “more polished and striking appearances,” per Koei Tecmo.
- True Musou Attacks, offline two-player, and officer growth, the three systems Koei Tecmo credits Dynasty Warriors 3 with introducing to the series.
- The original voice performances. Steam forum players note the remaster keeps the old English voices.
- Unlock conditions, which launch guides and players report work as they did on PS2.
Confirmed New Features
| Feature | What it does, per Koei Tecmo |
|---|---|
| Evasion | Dodge enemy attacks or temporarily fall back from the front line |
| Just Evasion | Dodge with perfect timing to open a counterattack |
| Perfect Power Guard | Deflect strong attacks with the right timing to stun the enemy |
| Weapon Fusion | Consume spare weapons to transfer their elements and skills to another weapon |
| New scenarios | High-difficulty battles with many officers, unlocked by meeting conditions in battle |
| Ziluan | The Dynasty Warriors: Origins hero joins the roster |
| Xtreme Legends included | Seven extra officer stories, bodyguard customization, new weapons and Challenge Mode |
| Normal and Classic Settings | Toggle each new feature, or switch all of them at once |
Koei Tecmo also lists PC features: support for multiple controller types, fully customizable mouse and keyboard controls, 4K, ultrawide monitors, several upscaling options and HDR.
Classic Settings vs Normal Settings
In the System menu, Koei Tecmo says “The new features added to this game can also be switched between normal and classic settings.” Normal Settings is the recommended default for the remaster; Classic Settings is “closer to the original Dynasty Warriors 3.”
The official screenshot of the Game Settings page shows the kind of options you can toggle individually, including Dismount While Moving, Automatic Item Pickup, Enemy Bow Attack Assist, Elite Enemy Charge Strike, Elite Enemy Charge Arrow, Defeat Effect and Heartbeat at Low Health, with “Switch to Classic Settings” and “Switch to Normal Settings (Default)” buttons at the bottom. Early reviews also mention an option that calculates arrow damage from your officer’s defense.
If you played on PS2 and want the old feel, start with Classic Settings, then turn individual modern options back on as you like them.
Changes Players Have Noticed
These come from early player reports, not from Koei Tecmo:
- You can turn mid-combo. Players call it one of the biggest quality-of-life fixes over the PS2 version.
- Dropped items stay put. Items left on the ground no longer despawn, which changes how item farming works.
- Limit-broken items. Blue items can roll above the original caps, such as a +75 Peacock Urn.
- Bodyguards can equip items, something the PS2 Xtreme Legends could not do.
- Combat feels tougher for allies. Several players report allied officers losing morale and falling faster than they remember, especially on Hard.
- No quick reload. The game autosaves at the results screen, and players say there is no return-to-title option from the pause menu.
The First Patch
Koei Tecmo’s first update notes, dated October 1, 2026, list version 1.0.1 (version 1.0.0 on Steam). The update makes battle-ending events play even when unique events are turned off in System, fixes items dropped by officers defeated off screen not being collectible, and includes other bug fixes, per the official update notes.
What Is Still Coming
Koei Tecmo has confirmed a post-launch update that adds online two-player co-op, with timing to be announced. Nothing else is officially on the roadmap.
