EA FC 27 has crossplay between PC, PlayStation and Xbox, and it is switched on by default, but you are only matched within your hardware generation: PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC play together, while PS4 and Xbox One form their own pool. Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 do not cross-play with anyone in FC 27, including The Grounds.

Who Plays With Whom in FC 27
Per EA Help, crossplay in FC 27 covers three platform families: PC, PlayStation and Xbox. You are grouped by generation rather than by brand:

That means a PS5 player can never meet a PS4 player online, and vice versa, even with crossplay on. If your friend is still on a PS4 or Xbox One, you will need to be on the same generation to play together. How to Turn Crossplay Off
Crossplay is enabled the first time you launch FC 27. To change it:
- From the Main Menu, open EA Connect.
- Open Social settings.
- Select Cross-play, then Cross-play settings.
- Under Cross-play Enabled, set it to No to turn crossplay off, or Yes to turn it back on.
The same screen is also reachable two other ways:
- Main Menu > Customise > Online Settings > Matchmaking Options
- Inside Ultimate Team: Ultimate Team > Settings > Matchmaking Settings
You cannot flip the setting during a match, so change it before you queue. Turning crossplay off usually means longer matchmaking, because you are drawing from a smaller pool of players on your own console. Some console players switch it off to avoid PC opponents, since FC 27 on PC supports mouse and keyboard as well as controllers.
Crossplay in The Grounds and Clubs
The Grounds, FC 27’s new social world where Clubs now lives, only exists on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Switch 2. EA Help’s Grounds articles say it supports cross-play across PC and the current-generation consoles, except Switch 2. So a PS5 player, an Xbox Series X player and a PC player can party up in the same Grounds world, join Kickabouts, and play Clubs matches together, while Switch 2 players get The Grounds without crossplay.
To play with friends there, use EA Connect to invite them to your party or accept their invite. If you are already in The Grounds but in a different world instance from your friends, sending or accepting an invite through EA Connect pulls you together. Once inside, party members show as pink dots on your map and Club members as blue dots. The Grounds has no proximity chat or open mic, so voice and text chat also run through EA Connect.
PC players get one more convenience this year. Per EA’s PC Deep Dive, Steam Friends now appear automatically in EA Connect, so you no longer have to search for a friend’s EA ID before inviting them. Cross-Progression: What Moves Between Consoles
Crossplay and cross-progression are different things. Cross-progression in FC 27 only works within the same console family:
- PS4 to PS5 and Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S carry your progress over on the same EA Account.
- PlayStation to Xbox (or the reverse) does not.
EA Help’s Dual Entitlement article lists exactly what transfers when you move up a generation: your Ultimate Team club and all its items, Ultimate Team Coins, FC Points, match record and leaderboard placement. Career Mode, Online Seasons and Co-Op Seasons do not transfer; each generation keeps its own separate saves for those modes. Other Cross-Platform Features
A few parts of FC 27 cross platforms even when matchmaking does not:
- Squad Battles leaderboards: EA Help says the Your Rank tab includes players across Xbox and PlayStation even if you have not opted in to crossplay. Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 have separate leaderboards.
- Career Mode Creator Challenges: share codes work across platforms within the same console generation, so a PS5 challenge loads on Xbox Series X|S but not on PS4. Switch 2 challenges only load on Switch 2.
