Marvel Rivals: Can You Play Ranked Cross-Platform?

Crossplay in Marvel Rivals works across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox in casual modes, but Competitive does not match PC players against console players. Consoles do get ranked crossplay with each other, so PlayStation and Xbox share a pool while PC stays on its own.

The Casual Rules

Quick Match, Conquest, Practice vs AI, and non-ranked Custom Games all support full crossplay between PC (Steam, Epic, and Loading Bay), PlayStation, and Xbox. There is a single global server set, and you choose a region based on latency rather than being locked to one.

Console players can turn crossplay off in their settings, under the social and cross-platform options, and it is on by default. PC players have no toggle: crossplay is always on for them.

The Competitive Rules

Competitive is where it changes. PC and console players are not matched together in ranked, which is the standard input-parity decision most shooters land on eventually.

Console players are pooled with each other, so PlayStation and Xbox players do meet in ranked, and there is an option to restrict matching to your own platform if you would rather not.

Tournaments do not support cross-platform participation at all.

Party Size Limits in Ranked

This is the rule most people get wrong, and it changes as you climb:

  • Bronze through Grandmaster: any party size except a five-stack. That means one, two, three, four, or six players. Yes, a full six-stack is allowed at these ranks.
  • Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All: solo or duo only.

The five-stack exclusion exists because a party of five plus one random is a miserable experience for that random. Six is a full team, so it is permitted, while five is not.

Worth knowing that these limits have moved before. An earlier season capped Platinum through Grandmaster at three-player parties and Celestial and above at two. The Season 5 update relaxed the middle tiers to what is described above, so check the current season’s notes if you are planning around a large group.

Competitive itself unlocks at account level 15, which is widely reported though not something NetEase has stated in a patch note we can point to.

Rank Resets

Ranks drop at the start of each season, but the exact amount varies. Official developer commentary has described a six-division drop at a full season rollover and a four-division drop at a mid-season reset, with an explicit note that it gets tuned as needed. One recent season instead specified a three-division drop with caps applied. The specific figure for the current season is not stated in its patch notes, so treat any number you see quoted as unofficial.

A Note on Penalties

NetEase announced stricter penalties for inactivity, throwing, and leaving matches early on September 17, 2026, with escalating matchmaking suspensions for repeat offenders. Notably, Quick Match no longer shares a penalty escalation tier with Arcade Mode, so casual leaving now carries its own track.
