You get to the World Tree in Palworld by following the main missions to the end of the tower chain: beat the Feybreak Tower to reach Sunreach, defeat Auri at the Azure Covenant Tower and hear her out, then summon and capture the legendary Pal Panthalus, which agrees to break the barrier around the tree. With the “To the World Tree” mission active, head to the Foot of the World Tree and a cutscene takes you inside. Below we walk through each step, what to bring, and what the region holds.
The World Tree is the story’s final region, added when Palworld left early access with version 1.0 on July 10, 2026. This guide is verified against Pocketpair’s official patch notes up to v1.0.5, with mission and boss data from the community database, and it applies to PC, PS5 and Xbox alike.
The Mission Chain, Step by Step
The World Tree is sealed until the story says otherwise, so flying at it early gets you nowhere. These are the main missions that open it, by their in-game names:
- Feybreak Tower. Defeat Bjorn and Bastigor (a level 60 fight per the community database) at the tower entrance around -1294, -1669. Winning completes the Key Sphere of Wrath step and starts “Hope Springs Eternal.”
- “Hope Springs Eternal.” After the fight, an altar sends you up to Sunreach, the floating islands. The mission points you to the Sunreach Watchtower first, then to the Azure Covenant Tower at the center.
- Azure Covenant Tower. Player guides describe a whirlwind that shields the tower until you shut down its Defense Modules. The mission’s six objective markers (Farcry Marsh, Enchanted Firmament, Waterlily Gorge, Crystalline Archipelago and two at The Azure Tapestry) lead you to them. Then beat Auri and Shaolong, level 68 per the database.
- “The Sunreacher” and “The Calamity.” Talk to Auri at the tower entrance twice. The game warns that the second talk is long, so start it when you have time.
- “Panthalus.” Collect the four Echobones, craft the Echoing Flute and summon the legendary Ocean King at the Deserted Islet. Our Panthalus boss guide covers the full fight and the capture rule.
- “To the World Tree.” The mission text says Panthalus has “agreed to help you break through the barrier.” Travel to the Foot of the World Tree marker, around -836, 711. Player guides recommend having Panthalus with you when you arrive.
A cutscene plays as you enter, and the World Tree loads as its own area. From there the next main mission, “Sin,” begins inside.
What to Bring
The World Tree is endgame content. The community database lists the three bosses inside (at the Rotmist Root, the Shinespore Root and the Forbidden Laboratory) at level 78, and the finale at level 80, the new level cap. If you are short on levels, our guide on how to get Technology Points covers the unlocks you should have before you commit.
- World Tree Holy Water. Many of the tree’s resources vanish when you approach them. Per the item’s own description, drinking Holy Water stops that for a while. Pocketpair’s v1.0.3 patch extended its duration, cut its weight from 1 to 0.1, and added it to World Tree expedition, fishing and Large Fishing Pond rewards.
- A flying mount. The region is large and vertical, and several objectives sit far apart.
- Spare Pal Spheres. 1.0 added 72 new Pals, and many of them live in Sunreach and the World Tree.
What Is Inside the World Tree
Pocketpair’s 1.0 changelog makes the World Tree the only source of several endgame materials:
- Paloxite, a new ore mined only at the World Tree and needed for top-tier ancient recipes.
- Ancient Civilization Relics, which can only be found here and are broken down at a special device into crafting and enhancement items.
- Radiant Gems, used for the new Awakening mechanic that strengthens your favorite Pals.
- New high-difficulty fishing spots and a World Tree destination for Pal Expeditions.
Mimogs, the chest-disguised Pals that carry Dog Coins, also spawn inside as of 1.0, per the community wiki.
Bugs Pocketpair Has Already Fixed
A few early World Tree problems are patched, so update before you go:
- v1.0.2 fixed co-op terrain failing to display for the host when a guest was already inside the World Tree area.
- A follow-up v1.0.2 hotfix fixed an infinite loading screen after defeating the World Tree boss.
- v1.0.4 fixed the World Tree Guardian failing to appear later in the main mission if Panthalus was defeated before you progressed it, and restored missing attack warnings in the World Tree boss battle.
If you mod the PC version, our best Palworld mods list notes which mods have been updated for 1.0. Pocketpair warns that outdated mods can crash the game or corrupt saves, so clear old ones before a big story push.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you enter the World Tree early? No documented route gets you past the barrier early. The main mission text ties opening it to Panthalus, so the story path is the way in.
Where is the entrance to the World Tree? The “To the World Tree” mission marker sits at the Foot of the World Tree, around -836, 711 on the map, per the community database.
What level should you be for the World Tree? Plan for the mid-70s or higher. The database lists the bosses inside at level 78 and the final fight at 80.
Do you need to capture Panthalus or just beat it? Capture it. Our Panthalus guide explains why the fight is built around a capture at 1 HP, and player guides say Panthalus needs to be yours before the barrier opens.
Why do resources disappear in the World Tree? It is how the region works. Drink World Tree Holy Water and, per its description, resources stop vanishing when you approach them for a period of time.
