Glass in Pokemon Pokopia is made in a Smelting Furnace, operated by a Pokemon with the Burn specialty such as Charmander, Charizard, Magmar, Growlithe or Torchic. The useful part is how flexible the input is: any sand or ash block works, and you can load up to 99 of the same block type in one go.
Every Accepted Input
You are not limited to ordinary sand. The furnace takes:
- Ordinary Sand
- Beach Sand
- Skyland Sand
- Bumpy Beach Sand
- Volcanic Ash
- Sandstone
- Skyland Sandstone
- Cracked Sandstone
That matters because it means almost any beach, desert or volcanic area is a glass supply. If you have been hoarding one specific sand type and ignoring the rest, you have more glass available than you think.
Getting a Furnace
You will find your first Smelting Furnace in the Rocky Ridges mines during the main story, so you do not need to craft one to get started.
To build more, you need the recipe, and meeting Magmar unlocks it. Once you have it, you can place furnaces wherever your Burn Pokemon live.
There is also a Metallic Smelting Furnace, a faster version, whose recipe is sold at the PC Shop at Environment Level 4 in Sparkling Skylands. If glass has become a bottleneck for your builds, that upgrade is the fix.
The Faster Small-Scale Option
If you only need a few panes, smashing the broken windows in abandoned structures around Bleak Beach and Sparkling Skylands gives small amounts of glass directly, with no processing time.
That is worth doing opportunistically while you pass, and not worth a dedicated trip.
Remember It Takes Time
Like the Concrete Mixer, the furnace runs on real time. Load it up, go and do something else, then come back. Loading 99 blocks at once is the efficient pattern, since the trip back and forth costs you more than the waiting does.
