Alien abductions are one of the most iconic and mysterious events in The Sims 2. Whether you’re chasing interstellar drama or aiming to raise an alien hybrid baby, getting your Sim abducted is both thrilling and rewarding. Here’s how to make it happen (and what comes next).
How Alien Abduction Works in The Sims 2
In The Sims 2 base game and beyond, alien abduction is a scripted event tied to the telescope object. When a Sim uses a telescope – especially at night – there’s a chance they’ll be abducted by aliens.
Step 1: Use the Right Telescope
There are two telescopes in the base game:
- Farstar e3 Telescope (expensive one): This is the only one that allows alien abduction.
- AstroScope (cheaper one): Does not trigger abduction.
To get abducted, your Sim must use the Farstar e3 Telescope, available in Buy Mode under Electronics > Miscellaneous.
Step 2: Increase the Chance of Abduction
To boost the odds:
- Have your Sim stargaze or search for planets using the Farstar e3 Telescope between 7 PM and 2 AM.
- Using the telescope for longer periods increases the chance of triggering the event.
- Knowledge Aspiration Sims have a higher chance of being abducted, they may even roll a want for it!
Step 3: Be a Male Sim (If You Want a Baby)
While any Sim can be abducted, only adult male Sims can return pregnant with an alien baby. This is the only way to create a half-alien Sim without cheats or mods.
What Happens After Abduction?
- Your Sim will be beamed up into the sky with a light effect and vanish for a few in-game hours.
- When they return, they’ll be dropped on the lot with strange moodlets and memories.
- If the abducted Sim is an adult male, he may return pregnant and give birth to an alien baby 3 days later.
You’ll receive a special memory in their scrapbook and an alien baby with unique genetics, who may even have powers depending on your mods.

To guarantee an abduction, you can use:
- boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true to spawn the Tombstone of L&D and force abduction.
- Mods from ModTheSims to tweak abduction chances or add alien storylines.
