Sims 3: How to Visit Other Towns

In The Sims 3, traveling to different towns isn’t a built-in feature of the base game. However, with the right expansion packs or mods, your Sims can explore new worlds, go on adventures, or even move permanently to a new neighborhood. This guide will walk you through the options available for visiting other towns in The Sims 3.

Option 1: Travel with the World Adventures Expansion Pack

The World Adventures expansion pack introduces three new destinations:

  • Al Simhara, Egypt
  • Champs Les Sims, France
  • Shang Simla, China

To travel to these locations:

  1. Use Your Sim’s Phone or Computer: Select the “Travel” option.
  2. Choose a Destination: Pick one of the three available locations.
  3. Select Sims to Travel: Decide which household members will go.
  4. Confirm and Depart: Your Sims will pack up and head to the airport.

Note: These destinations are considered vacation spots. Sims can explore tombs, learn new skills, and complete adventures, but they cannot move there permanently.

Option 2: Use the NRaas Traveler Mod for Custom World Travel

For more flexibility, the NRaas Traveler mod allows Sims to visit and even move to custom worlds:

  1. Install the NRaas Traveler Mod: Download and install the mod from the NRaas website.
  2. Prepare the Destination World: Ensure the world you want to visit is installed and available in your game.
  3. Initiate Travel:
    • Use your Sim’s phone or computer.
    • Select “Real Estate and Travel Services” > “Travel”.
  4. Choose the Destination: Pick from any installed world, including custom ones.
  5. Travel and Explore: Your Sims will arrive at the new world, where they can stay temporarily or move permanently.

Note: When using the Traveler mod, Sims can maintain relationships, skills, and inventory across worlds. Additionally, you can set whether Sims age in other worlds via City Hall > NRaas > Traveler settings.

Option 3: Start a New Game in a Different Town

If you prefer not to use mods or expansion packs:

  1. Return to the Main Menu.
  2. Select “New Game”.
  3. Choose a Different Town: Pick from the available worlds installed in your game.
  4. Create or Move in a Household: Start fresh in the new town.

Note: This method doesn’t allow your Sims to retain relationships or progress from previous saves.
