Sims 4: How to Do Homework

In The Sims 4, making sure your child or teen Sims stay on top of their homework is key to getting good grades and progressing in school. If you’re new to parenting Sims or just need a refresher, here’s everything you need to know about how to do homework in The Sims 4.

Where to Find Homework

  • When a child or teen Sim first goes to school, a homework book is automatically placed in their inventory.
  • You can also purchase homework from any bookshelf if it goes missing:
    • Children’s Homework (yellow book)
    • Teen Homework (blue book)

Tip: If your Sim constantly loses their homework, buy an extra copy to keep on a bookshelf at home.

How to Do Homework in The Sims 4

  1. Open the Sim’s inventory.
  2. Click on the homework book.
  3. Select “Do Homework.”

Your Sim will sit down and start working through their assignment. It usually takes a couple of in-game hours to complete.

Helping with Homework

  • Adult Sims can click on a child or teen who is doing homework and choose “Help with Homework.”
  • Helping speeds up the process and slightly boosts relationships.

Extra Credit Work

  • Once your Sim has completed their daily homework and is doing well in school (usually a B grade or higher), they may get the option to “Do Extra Credit.”
  • Click the homework book again and select this option to further improve their grades.

Homework and University (Young Adults)

If you have the Discover University expansion pack:

  • Enrolled Sims get homework assignments for each class
  • Homework is found in the Sim’s inventory as university homework
  • Completing it boosts class performance and affects final grades

Final Tips

  • Homework helps your Sim maintain or improve grades
  • Doing homework while Focused (use a chess table or study spot) speeds things up
  • Keep a dedicated study space with good lighting and comfort to reduce stress while working

Stay on top of homework in The Sims 4 and your Sims will be on the honor roll, or Dean’s List, in no time!
